- As March comes to a close, the LSSD continues to move forward with purpose, professionalism, and a clear commitment to public service. Throughout the month, the department saw an expanded focus on revision of current policy, accountability-based initiatives, and notable retirements from the department.
As such, thank you for taking the time to read and stay connected with our work. We hope this month’s edition provides a meaningful look at the people, progress, and priorities that continue to shape the Los Santos Sheriff’s Department.

- As we come to the end of yet another month, as usual I am tasked with pondering the last month here at the Sheriff's Department. I would say March has been a slower month, compared to months past as we settle into the springtime routine.

One big change this month was the modification of the Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Program. The Sheriff's Department has had a reserve program for the better part of the last year, with a few longstanding members of the Department holding this role. But as announced a few days ago, I have decided to make some changes to the Reserve Deputy program to make it more accessible for more people. The big change is the lower of the rank requirement from Lieutenant to Deputy Sheriff (MFTD) or Deputy Sheriff (Detective), and the time in service from 3 years to 6 months. The intent of the program remains the same, bridging service gaps with experienced personnel.
Unfortunately, the month of March also saw the retirement of Undersheriff Oscar Black, a very long standing member of the Sheriff's Department. Undersheriff Black held a number of positions in the department and I/We are grateful for his service and we wish him well on his well-deserved retirement.
I hope this monthly newsletter is informative and gives you an insight into the ongoings of the Sheriff's Department. In addition, don't forget we publish a monthly accountability newsletter to disclose the ongoings of our Internal Affairs bureau. The intent here is be as open and transparent as possible and ensure trust in the process.

- For the month of March, we are proud to announce Deputy Sheriff (Bonus I) Christopher Miles as the Deputy of the Month.
Deputy Sheriff (Bonus I) Christopher Miles
Deputy Miles joined the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department on January 4th, 2026, and has continued to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to service since joining the department. Through his consistent work ethic and steady contributions, he most recently earned promotion to Deputy Sheriff (Bonus I) on March 8th, 2026.
In addition to his primary duties within the department, Deputy Miles is also assigned to the Traffic Services Detail, where he serves as a Traffic Deputy III. Beyond this, he is also a valued member of the Air Support Bureau, where he's been racking impressive flight hours!
On behalf of the Department, Deputy Sheriff (Bonus I) Christopher Miles will receive a bonus payment of $1,000.00 (($100,000.00)).

This message has been formally written, proudly endorsed, and unquestionably approved by Program Coordinator Sergeant Will Grigg of the Recruitment & Employment Bureau, dedicated to shaping the future of the department through recruitment and training.To start this off, as you all know, the CO (Commanding Officer), Cole Lawless, and Program Coordinator, Jackson Walter, are currently unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances. Their absence is felt throughout the bureau, and they are greatly missed. Nonetheless, in their absence, we remain committed to pushing forward with determination and professionalism, ensuring that when they return, they can be nothing but proud of the work accomplished in their absence.
Our team continues to work tirelessly to process applications, interview, and conduct academies as efficiently and effectively as possible. The results speak for themselves; our current numbers are outstanding, and we are proud of the consistency and dedication shown across the bureau. We are also looking forward to organizing another academy in the near future.
The Recruitment and Employment Bureau is one of the most essential divisions within the department. Without recruitment, there would be no new deputy sheriff trainees entering our ranks. Over time, without that steady influx, the department numbers would inevitably decline. It is precisely this responsibility that our members carry with professionalism and pride every single day.
I am incredibly proud of how our team rises to this challenge. We are a tight-knit group that works closely together to ensure only the highest quality candidates make it into our academies. Our Academy Instructor Team plays a vital role in this process, delivering an experience that is not only educational but also memorable. We view the academy as a formal introduction into the department, one that sets the tone for every trainee’s future career. We give them the full experience so they know what they can expect during their training and work as a Deputy Sheriff.
For those deputies who are considering joining the bureau, you are always welcome to observe an interview or academy session. The academies are not for the weak. It’s a great opportunity to see firsthand what we do, and it’s always rewarding to watch new faces experience the process. Some of our current members have gone through academies under my leadership. Feel free to ask them about their experience. I am sure they have much to tell.
Together, we continue to build the future of the department.

- Deputy Sheriff Trainee Gallichio is a new member of our department, passing his academy on the 7th of March, 2026. Of note Deputy Sheriff Trainee Gallichio has since passed his examination and is pending promotion to Deputy Sheriff (amendum, he has since been promoted to Deputy Sheriff!)

"I love helping out the community and citizens of Los Santos."
What is your most memorable moment while serving as a deputy for the LSSD?
"Probably getting joked with the most since I am a trainee still."
Why did you become a deputy for the LSSD?
"I grew up in a law enforcement home and it was a right fit for me."
What is the greatest feeling about being a deputy?
"Getting respect from the citizens in Los Santos."
Where do you see yourself in the LSSD two months from now?
"I see my self in the highway patrol and K9 department."
What do you like doing outside of work?
"I like visiting friends and going for cruises on my bike or car."
