  • The Los Santos County Sheriff's Department Internal Affairs Bureau is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and public trust. This monthly report provides a general summary of complaints received during the reporting period, along with the status or conclusion of each matter. In keeping with department policy, this report does not identify complainants, involved personnel, or specific disciplinary outcomes beyond general disposition categories.

ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT
  • Reporting Period: February 1, 2026 – February 28, 2026
    • #221054
      • A complaint was received regarding a Deputy issuing a driver’s license suspension after an individual had already served their custodial sentence. An investigator was assigned to the case and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the incident, determining that no violations of Sheriff’s Department policy occurred, but that the matter could have been handled more effectively. Although there was no breach of Department policy, it was concluded that Actions could be different.

      • ((A complaint was received alleging a Deputy engaged in substandard and improper medical roleplay during a law enforcement scene. An investigator was assigned to the case and, after reviewing the available logs, responses, and surrounding circumstances, determined there was merit to the complaint and sustained the allegation. Corrective action was taken in accordance with the Sheriff's Department disciplinary process.))

      • A complaint was received alleging a Deputy acted unprofessionally during an arrest and detention following a law enforcement incident. An investigator was assigned to the case and, after reviewing the complaint, response, and available evidence, determined there was merit to part of the complaint and sustained the allegation relating to professional conduct. The Deputy was disciplined according to the Sheriff's Department disciplinary process.

      • A complaint was received alleging a Deputy initiated enforcement action and a pursuit within another department’s jurisdiction without properly involving the primary agency. An investigator was assigned to the case and reviewed the complaint and available information, but determined there was insufficient evidence to substantiate misconduct or a breach of Sheriff's Department policy. The case was concluded as No Misconduct.

      • A complaint was received alleging a Deputy used unjustified force during an arrest scene involving an individual who was interfering with law enforcement activity. An investigator was assigned to the case and, after reviewing statements, body camera footage, and the surrounding circumstances, determined there was merit to the complaint and sustained the allegation relating to the use of force. The Deputy was disciplined according to the Sheriff's Department disciplinary process

      • A complaint was received alleging employees operating from an air unit fired upon an individual who was not actively presenting a threat during a law enforcement incident. An investigator was assigned to the case and, after reviewing the complaint, body camera footage, and the surrounding circumstances, determined that no violations of Sheriff's Department policy occurred, but that the situation could have been handled more effectively. Although there was no breach of Department policy, it was concluded that Actions could be different.

      • A complaint was received alleging a Deputy improperly required an individual to remove facial concealment and issued a citation relating to a vehicle license plate during a law enforcement interaction at Benny’s Original Motorworks. An investigator was assigned to the case and, after reviewing the complaint, statements, and body camera footage, determined that the reported actions did occur but were justified, lawful, and proper under the circumstances. The case was concluded as Exonerated.

      • ((A complaint was received regarding deputies acting on visible vehicle damage that the reporting party stated was not visible on their end during a traffic stop. The matter was reviewed through Internal Affairs and executive oversight, including statements from the involved employees, and it was determined the deputies acted on the information and circumstances observable to them at the time. The matter was reviewed and closed administratively.))

      • ((A complaint was received regarding the handling of a pursuit following a game disconnection, including concerns about the use of a personally owned vehicle by department personnel. An investigator was assigned to the case and, after review, determined there was no evidence of misconduct relating to the reconnection itself, but that one involved employee’s actions could have been different with respect to vehicle deployment. Although there was no finding of misconduct regarding the pursuit handling, the case was concluded as Actions could have been Different.))
