A Living Legacy: SADOC Gifts Elite K9 Units to Government Security Bureau in Honour of Late Director Lester Conway
On Sunday, 25th January 2026, The San Andreas Department of Corrections (SADOC) is proud to announce a historic transfer of resources to the Government Security Bureau (GSB), gifting two elite service animals to the agency’s protective division. This transition is marked by a deep sense of reverence, as the K9s have been named in honor of the late and esteemed Security Director, Lester Conway.
The two K9 units, officially designated as Special Agent K9 Lester and Deputy Director K9 Conway, serve as a living tribute to Director Conway’s lifelong commitment to the safety of San Andreas. By carrying his name, these K9s represent the vigilance, loyalty, and protection that defined the Director’s storied career.
The K9s will be assigned to two of the GSB's most veteran operators to ensure the highest level of operational success:
As these two distinguished K-9s transition from the corridors of Bolingbroke to the pillars of State Government, they carry with them the pride of the SADOC and the memory of a great leader. We have no doubt that they will serve Lead Agent Sterling and Special Agent Thorne with the same unwavering loyalty they showed our staff and facility.
On behalf of the entire San Andreas Department of Corrections, we salute Special Agent Lester and Deputy Director Conway. We wish them a long, healthy, and impactful career in their new home.

When we reached out to Security Director Tristan Murphy, here's what he had to say!Elena Flores wrote: When the request to transfer our Department's K9s to the Government Security Bureau was made, it was an effort that I immediately supported, unconditionally. It is not only a contribution to state security and protection or a sign of good faith between our organizations, but I also find that it goes deeper than that; I feel that it shows care for the dogs that have served us so well and have dedicated much of their lives to a career of service.
There is no sense in having well-trained, well-behaved dogs, trained for service, retired into the kennels of our state prison, when they can continue their service with another agency, and continue making significant contributions to state safety. That would be unfair and unjust, not only to the funding dedicated to training these dogs, but more importantly, to the dogs themselves.
It makes me extremely happy to know that they can continue their service with the state government with great satisfaction.
