- PALETO BAY FOOT PURSUIT ENDS IN FATAL SHOOTING, DEPUTY CHARGED
- Blaine County: On Wednesday the 2nd of July 2025, a foot pursuit of a male suspect was initiated in Paleto Bay. When the suspect reportedly reached for a knife, a deputy, later identified as Jason Wild, opened fire towards the male, injuring them. A few moments later, the deputy again opened fire, killing the man on scene.
An investigation was opened after the incident and Deputy Wild was placed on immediate administrative leave pending both an internal and criminal investigation.
Last night, on Thursday the 3rd of July, Jason Wild was charged with SF02 - Murder, dishonorably discharged and placed to serve their sentence at the Bolingbroke Penitentiary.
The Los Santos Sheriff's Department does not condone the use of excessive or unjustified force by any of its employees. We send our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
The Department remains committed to accountability and transparency, and we strongly encourage any civilians who witness misconduct or have concerns about employee behavior to file an official Employee Complaint through the proper channels.
