Request Information
Detailed information of your request:

#CobbBlog has been made aware of, and given evidence of a few incidents and wish to ask the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department the following general questions in relation to find out your official response before anything is posted:
  • How often does LSSD drug test employees, random or otherwise?
  • How many deputies, if any, in the last few months faced disciplinary action as a result of drug use (specifically, marijuana. I'm looking for numbers, specifics obviously not required)?
  • If a deputy is caught using marijuana, is there any LSSD policy that would subject them to harsher internal punishments than just the charge in the penal code?
  • If a member of the public witnesses a deputy smoking marijuana on duty, how do you propose they follow up with this concern?
  • How does LSSD respond to the 'rumour' that 2 deputies (which I will not name, yet) carved the word "LOST" onto the forehead of a gang member to start a war between the gangs known as OTF and Lost MC? Do you deny such a rumour?
  • Finally, is it factual that the reason the LSSD has not provided evidence to the prosecution of JB for the Nathaniel Luceran prison break case because the LSSD believes the evidence is tainted due to the lead investigator having sexual relations with the suspect the night before the arrest (or intimate relations in general)?
    • If not, could you please explain the reasoning behind not working with the prosecution on this case in particular?
    • If so, what steps has LSSD taken on this?
Thank you very much for your time, and a side note to any members of the public reading this, don't take anything here as fact until evidence is posted or LSSD issues a statement please. I'm just investigating.

    Mr. Cobb,

    1. How often does LSSD drug test employees, random or otherwise?
We do not currently conduct drug testing for employees. However, implementing such a policy may be worth evaluating as part of future internal oversight efforts. Thank you for indirectly proposing this.

    2. How many deputies, if any, in the last few months faced disciplinary action as a result of drug use (specifically, marijuana)?
No deputies have been found in possession of, or under the influence of, narcotics or alcohol while on duty. Without a testing policy in place, it is possible that isolated cases could go undetected if no outward signs are present.

    3. If a deputy is caught using marijuana, is there any LSSD policy that would subject them to harsher internal punishments than just the charge in the penal code?
Yes. A deputy found using marijuana would be in violation of department policy, in addition to facing potential legal consequences. Internal disciplinary measures are determined based on the severity and context of the incident. These may include suspension, demotion, or termination, as reviewed by Internal Affairs, Command, and Executive Staff.

    4. If a member of the public witnesses a deputy smoking marijuana on duty, how do you propose they follow up with this concern?
If any member of the public observes a deputy engaging in behavior that may violate department policy or the law, such as using marijuana while on duty, they are encouraged to submit a formal report to the Internal Affairs Division through the government website. Each report is reviewed and, if appropriate, investigated.

    5. How does LSSD respond to the 'rumour' that two deputies carved the word "LOST" onto the forehead of a gang member to start a war between the gangs known as OTF and Lost MC? Do you deny such a rumour?
This is the first time this allegation has come to our attention. It is a serious accusation. We urge anyone with credible evidence or factual information to submit a report to Internal Affairs for investigation. As there is currently no verified information supporting this rumor, we deny the claim.

    6. Is it factual that the reason LSSD has not provided evidence to the prosecution of JB for the Nathaniel Luceran prison break case is because the evidence is believed to be tainted due to the lead investigator having sexual relations with the suspect the night before the arrest? If not, could you please explain the reasoning behind not working with the prosecution on this case in particular? If so, what steps has LSSD taken on this?
We have reviewed the official records for court requests submitted through the government portal and found no request referencing a Nathaniel Luceran. Without a formal request through the proper channels, it is difficult for the Sheriff's Department to comply with or be aware of any such information requests.

So, on the claim that we have been uncooperative or unresponsive for six months, we must respectfully deny it. This is the first time this matter has come to the Sheriff's attention.

We will reach out to the Attorney General and the Prosecution team to remind them of the official request process, and we will work with them to ensure that any releasable information is provided in a timely and cooperative manner.
