  • SOLUTION TO SANDY SHORES PARKING PROBLEM
  • Image
  • Blaine County: The Los Santos Sheriff department is facing ongoing issues with the Sandy Sores station parking lot. Vehicles get broken into, stolen and damaged. The parking lot is too unsecure and small, a very promising solution is in sight.
    Overcrowded parking lot
The Sandy Shores Sheriff station is the most utilized and geographically the most practical LSSD station. Most deputies go on and off duty here, all departmental row calls happen here, and it's preferred as the main SD station by most of the deputies. Unfortunately, the parking lot in front of the station is not adequately sized for the vast amounts of deputies needing to park their vehicle there and the fact that it's not secured enough and for deputies it's daily bread that their vehicle gets stolen, damaged or robbed.

Sheriff Steve Smith, the director of Patrol operations who was attempting to solve this problem, describes it like:
""Well, picture a tin of sardines, but instead of fish, it's cars, SUVs, and the occasional golf cart squeezed into spaces that don't exist. It’s like someone threw a scrapyard and a demolition derby into a blender and poured the result onto our parking lot.""
If a deputy wants to park their vehicle in front of the Sandy station, they are mostly accepting the fact that their vehicle will most likely get damaged, robbed or stolen and sold on black market. Most of the time, the parking lot is filled with multiple vehicles stuck next to each other and sometimes even on top of each other and the vehicles being heavily damaged, scratched etc. is noticeable on first sight with Sheriff Smith commenting it:
""our insurance company sends us Christmas cards. Between fender benders, mystery scratches, and officers trying to squeeze a muscle car into a space designed for a unicycle, it’s a regular occurrence.""

    Safety risks
    The fact

that deputies who come to risk their lives in line of duty not having the ability to park their vehicle in front of the Sheriff station is deeply concerning.
There are also safety risks as a result of the small parking lot like oftentimes blocked access to the fire hydrant which can result in the station receiving more damage in case of potential fire.
The Los Santos Sheriff department as a government organization may be receiving damage to the trust of the public in them and the organization reputation due to the messy first sight of their most used station, as Sheriff Smith puts it:
""Ah, well, that if our reputation is about keeping the peace, then a messy parking lot doesn't damage it, but If it's about parking in a way that doesn't make people think we've been drinking on duty, then maybe a little bit."".

    The solution?
Well, at this point it should be clear to everyone that the Sandy station needs to receive a higher capacity parking lot with preferably lockable gate. As this has been a very large issue, we are please to announce, in collaboration with SASG, we will be bulldozing Sandy Shores along with Stab City. Sandy Shores is plagued with run-down buildings and streets, and this new solution will allow for a new employee parking lot for the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department. In addition, Stab City has needed some help for quite some time, so this will allow us to bring the area to a new level.

Spearheading this project is Captain James Jurrick, a dedicated member of our Command Staff. He is super excited to be leading this initiative, and cannot be more excited to begin construction. If anyone has any concerns about the project or needs more information, Jurrick is more than willing to provide additional information via email.
