- 3.1) Why are you interested in becoming a Court Clerk, and how does this role align with your long-term career goals, such as becoming a Judge? (100 word minimum)
- I have been interested in government work for a very long time, my intention is to eventually move forward in my career path to maybe one day become a lawyer, however; I want to test the waters in the field and see what I can offer and gain in return from this potential opportunity. Regarding my interests in potentially moving any further down the line than that really comes down to how I feel about things after the fact. I don't want to jump the gun and say I have aspirations to become a judge, but I am also not against the idea of entertaining it if the shoe fits right.
- Over the years I have always paid very close attention to detail when it comes to paperwork. I went to college for 4 years in order to get my bachelors in Plant Science and ever since then I have been very studious and careful when dealing with paperwork and accuracy.
- My life is full of team building exercises. When I went to college we had many group projects, one in particular required a group of 4 of us to monitor some plants that had been infected with a virus and then treated with various antidotes to see how the virus would react, but given the sensitive nature of the situation we had to have a constant watch on the batch of plants, so we worked together in 6 hour shifts to ensure we didn't miss a single step.
- I have never worked in a company that required neutrality or unbiased decision-making specifically, however; I do understand the importance of judging a situation based on the facts and not any predispositions.
- I absolutely am willing and ready.
- I believe that a good judge should be highly educated on legal procedures, but that is a given. To try and answer this question uniquely, I believe a good judge also knows not only the basic understanding of the law, but also knows who to go to when they need to approach sensitive situations that they may be unable to handle without prior council. I don't think being a great or even good judge means you know everything, just that you are capable of figuring out where you need to go in order to learn what you need for the situation at hand. Other qualities would be integrity and an unbiased attitude.
- It is important to understand that if you are someone with the power to make decisions that absolutely can and will affect another human being, to remain unbiased and neutral to the situation. You follow the law to the letter and make the correct choices regardless of your personal conscience.
