- 3.1) Why are you seeking employment with the San Andreas Judicial Branch? (200 word minimum.):
- Law has been my passion and my profession for many decades. My mother was involved in the civil rights movements of the 1960s, and 1970s. This sparked a deep interest in civil liberties and constitutional law. With that in mind, I hope to protect and ensure those civil liberties through the public defenders office. The right to legal council is a basic right in the American system, and a very important right. By providing this as a public work through the public defenders office, I can do my part to ensure that my clients rights are upheld, and the people of this city can have faith in a legal process that provides that for them. In addition to my more principled reasons, I have experience working in government, and fulfilling various legal positions within it. I have had experience as a defense attorney, a prosecutor, and as a district court judge in the past, all of which have given me a very balanced and I believe fair perspective of judiciary operation, which has become a passion as well. The Constitution of the United States must always be upheld, and it's citizens must understand that there are those in government who fight for those rights to be upheld. I would like to continue to be one of these individuals through my service in the public defenders office. Every American should feel safe and secure in their right and ability to exercise their right to adequate legal representation. I have to accept that calling, and try to help those in dire need. Many who apply for public defenders cannot afford private attorneys, and that in and of itself, ensuring that those with the least still have access to a formidiable defense, is invaluable.

- I was born in 1965 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the capital city of the state. At that time you would barely recognize it as a city. My mother was an avid civil rights advocate and hippie. She was involved in fighting for the rights of African Americans, women, and Native Americans through the 1960s and into the 1970s. She was also an avid anti war protester, specifically during the Vietnam era. She vehemently protested against the abuses of civilians in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. This gave me a great interest in the plight of others as a young person, and shaped my understanding and scope of the law. My father also taught me fairness, and prudence, as well as pragmatism. This has shaped how I approach, and apply those principles. It gives me a strong moral compass, with a drive to uphold my fellow citizens civil liberties, while also being pragmatic and fair in my assesment and practice of those principles.
- 3.3) What would you say is the most valuable trait that you possess, and how that could benefit the branch? (75 word minimum.):
- I possess a strong passion, as well as a thirst for knowledge and understanding. Not just in legal academia, but in a variety of subjects. This yearning for knowledge has assisted me in practice of law through the studying of philosophy, and history, as well as the understanding of human nature and being. I like to believe my pragmatism also allows me to be fair, and realistic about my approach to things, and use that to both mine, and my clients advantage. These traits together form the core of my personage, and allow me to better practice law, and execute my duties.

- Most of my time here in the city would be either working on cases, or networking with potential clients, and fostering positive relationships. If I were to give a percentage I would probably say about 60-80% depending on the day/week.

- I took some Constitutional Law in college before I left. I also in my spare time follow supreme court decisions, and have done mock trial while still in school. I also interact with a lot of attorneys, and have in the past due to my work as a waiter/bartender, so I do get to pick their brains a lot which helps my understanding and contributes to my legal RP.
