My name is Lila James. I am driven by a strong sense of discipline, integrity, and justice. I knew since childhood just how important order is to safety from people around me. It spurred me to want a career in law enforcement in which I could affect people's lives for the better.
I consider myself even tempered during tough times, easy to handle when working as a team, and deft at handling difficult situations. My past experience has put me in a position to face the challenges of working in correctional environments. I believe in the potential for every individual to transform his or her life however, I also believe that strict safeguards and accountability are important for a prison facility to function.
I am eager to harness, hard work and commitment for the benefit of the Department of Corrections and look forward to contributing to a safe and secure environment.

2.2 Why do you want to join the San Andreas Department of Corrections, and why should we hire you over other applicants? (minimum 75 words)
I'm really interested in applying for the San Andreas Department of Corrections because I believe that the laws and orders must be maintained not only in the roads but also within the system of justice. Being an important factor in an individual's incarceration, I really believe that along with ensuring a safe and secure environment, it also provides a rehabilitative aspect in the life of the individual being incarcerated. I am really into discipline, easy and safe pipeline process contribution, and strict facility control with effective rehabilitation. You need to choose me over other candidates because I am a highly disciplined professional who works well under pressure and has superior conflict-resolution skills. I get to know how important teamwork, clear communication, and quick decision-making are in those stressful moments. Level-headness and a firm but fair enforcement of rules will make me highly favored for this position. I will be involved in efforts to see the DOC become a safer, more structured environment for officers and inmates alike.

2.3 If you are an ex-felon, what have you learned and changed about yourself since being charged with a felony or misdemeanor (minimum 50 words)?
I am taking full responsibility for what has happened and have learned an important lesson in my time in prison. To act violently and not calmly is failure for oneself, and at that point, emotions ruled me. But now I know I could settle disputes better and without violence.
I am working really hard to improve self-control and patience and becoming better at decision-making since the incarceration. My controls are anger management and communication to de-escalate situations without violence. I want to help people understand so they avoid having the same experience I had. I do not allow my past to dictate who I am, and I look forward to being a better person for society.
