MESSAGE FROM THE SHERIFF

    Sheriff Bobby Kirk
We are stepping into the seventh month of the year, perhaps the warmest and most delightful of them all. As we enter this new month, Pride Month and Men's Mental Health Awareness Month are coming to an end. Internally, we have marked this occasion by allowing employees to express themselves with hair colors in the shades of the pride flag. Additionally, Betty, our most loyal employee, has wrapped and painted a number of cruisers in the same colors. It is immensely important to me that my department remains inclusive, diverse, and that we publicly display our support.

This month also saw two new command-level promotions within the department. I would like to once again congratulate Commander Wiley Reno on his promotion to Bureau Commander of our Administrative Operations. Despite his aspirations for our Patrol Operations, his enthusiasm for paperwork and his innovative mindset will certainly benefit our training and recruitment divisions. I would also like to congratulate Captain Amelia Clark on her promotion to Captain, thus successfully joining our Command team. She remains steadfast in her performance and dedicated to both the department and the public.

In July 2019, the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department was re-opened. This month marks our five-year anniversary, and to commemorate this, our Sheriff's Information Division will be releasing various press releases and hosting events. Please make sure to follow us on LifeInvader, as most of our updates will be posted there.

DEPUTY OF THE MONTH

  • Deputy Sheriff III Harper Flynn
    Image
Deputy Harper Flynn reinstated back into the Los Santos Sheriff's Department on the 28th of December and successfully passed the field training program and became a Deputy Sheriff I on the 18th of January 2024. Deputy Flynn is currently a member of the Highway Enforcement Division, Field Training Division, Recruitment and Employment Division and is also a Crime Scene Technician within the Sheriff's Investigations Bureau. We are happy to have Deputy Flynn within the ranks of our department and she will receive the well earned appointment as the Deputy of the Month for June 2024.

When did you join the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department?
I first joined the Los Santos Sheriff Department in July 2023. Unfortunately, my stay was a short one, and I ended up resigning during my training. I returned to the department again on the 2nd of April 2024, Where I have been here ever since.

What is your favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD?
I would say that my favorite thing about being a deputy is that I get to work with, and meet some amazing people. I have the honor of being part of one of the greatest teams I have ever been A part of.

What is your most memorable moment while serving as a deputy for the LSSD?
My most memorable moment would be the day that I was accepted into the Sheriff's investigations bureau. This was the day that I took a huge step in my career, taking on many new responsibilities, and lining myself up for a whole new experience within LSSD.

Why did you become a deputy for the LSSD?
It may sound corny, but my reasoning for joining the LSSD was so that I could really make a difference within Los Santos. I have always had a keen interest in law, and being on the forefront of law enforcement is where I belong.

What is the greatest feeling about being a deputy?
The greatest feeling about being a Deputy is knowing that you make a difference. There are times where members of the public approach you, and show their gratitude towards you for helping them out, and this is a real moral booster and is something that keeps me going every day.

Where do you see yourself in the LSSD two months from now?
In two months time I would love to see myself actively training to become an investigator. SIB has become my passion and moving forward, I hope to be putting much of my time and effort into the division, ensuring that I become the greatest version of myself for the department. Alongside this, I hope to gain more knowledge and experience in the Recruitment and Employment Division, taking part in interviews and academies, to help bring new deputies into the department

What do you like doing outside of work?
I love to hang out with friends, whether it's at the casino or just going for a drive. As much as I love working, and spend many hours on shift, it's good to have a balance between work and personal life.

DIVISION SPOTLIGHT
  • Air Support Division

The Air Support Division is a division under Countywide Operations, led by Commanding Officer Lieutenant Tom Brown and Assistant Commanding Officer Investigator II Hugo Hernandez. The Air Support Division's task within the department is to provide air support during different situations, but not limited to pursuits, operations and search & rescue missions.

We spoke with Master Deputy Baron Faust, a Chief Pilot within the Air Support Division about his time within the division.

    Master Deputy Baron Faust
How did your journey start with the Air Support Division?
My journey with Air support started in 2022 in LSPD. I worked my way up the ranks, putting in a ton of hours. I then transferred to SD last year in 2023 and have since worked to train and improve our pilots.

What are your goals for the Air Support Division moving forward?
My goals currently for ASD would most likely be bringing more pilots to the division. I have a few plans to incentivize our current pilots and interest more deputies to want to fly.

Is there anything you’d like the public to know?
I would like the public to know that ASD is a vital part of the Sheriff's Department. We are the eye in the sky for the department and able to be anywhere, anytime.

DEPUTY SPOTLIGHT

  • Deputy Sheriff I Nacho Navarro
Deputy Nacho Navarro joined the Los Santos Sheriff's Department on the 25th of May 2024 after successfully passing the LSSD Academy. During his time within the department, deputy Navarro has proven to be a competent and trustworthy deputy, taking the time out of his day to guide newer deputies into their role and ensuring that things are done properly. We are excited to have the opportunity to highlight Deputy Navarro this month and we are excited to see where his tenure within the department will bring him.

When did you join the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department?
I joined the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department on May 25, 2024.

What is your favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD?
My favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD is the opportunity to make a real difference in the community and the amazing colleagues I get to work with every single day. I enjoy helping people and knowing that my actions contribute to making Los Santos a safer place for everyone.

What is your most memorable moment while serving as a deputy for the LSSD?
My most memorable moment was during my first shoot-out. The adrenaline rush was intense as I took down two dangerous criminals linked to the Irish gang. Despite the chaos, I kept my partner safe and managed to keep our cruiser on the road even after they shot out two of our tires. I maneuvered the cruiser so my partner, Deputy Flynn, could take out their tires, causing them to crash. We then had a foot pursuit where I was able to take out both suspects without being hit myself.

Why did you become a deputy for the LSSD?
I became a deputy for the LSSD because I wanted to follow in my uncle's footsteps and make a positive impact on my community. Growing up, I saw how dedicated he was to his job, and it inspired me to pursue a career in law enforcement. I also have a personal aversion to gangs due to what happened to my sister back in Mexico. She got mixed up with the wrong crowd, and the stress it caused my family was immense. By joining the LSSD and hopefully the Investigative Bureau, I aim to work my way up to becoming a Gang Detective to help bring down the gangs that corrupt Los Santos and protect others from going through similar experiences.

What is the greatest feeling about being a deputy?
The greatest feeling about being a deputy is knowing that I am part of something bigger than myself. Every day, I have the chance to help people, solve problems, and bring justice. It's incredibly rewarding to see the positive effects of our work and to know that I am making a difference in the community.

Where do you see yourself in the LSSD two months from now?
Two months from now, I hope to be a member of the Field Training Division (FTD) and to have joined the Sheriff's Investigative Bureau. My long-term goal is to become a detective, specifically focusing on gang-related crimes. I am eager to continue learning and taking on more responsibilities within the department to help bring down the gangs that corrupt Los Santos and protect our community.

What do you like doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy taking my cars out for a drive, especially my newly purchased Terminus for some off-roading. I also like cycling up and down Mount Chiliad for exercise and frequently hitting the gym. Food is another passion of mine, and I'm really hoping a Mexican restaurant will open in Paleto soon.

QUESTION OF THE MONTH
  • What's your favorite summertime activity?
  • Master Deputy Ike Vanburen wrote:I love lots of things about summer! Here are my two ideal days!

In the heat of the sun, I head to Paleto beach with my friends and coworkers! We play cornhole, enjoy a delicious BBQ, drive like stuntmen over the dunes in a buggy and top off the trip with a refreshing swim in the ocean to cool off!

In the cool of the evening, a pinnacle for relaxation is a road trip to the lookout peak of Chiliad. I love having campfires up there with my buddies, cracking open a cold brew and watching the sunset over Paleto, seeing the town lights and fireflies dance on the ocean.
Master Deputy Hans Waltz wrote:I like going out with friends to a park and having a picnic or playing volleyball. Also, I like going with them to a lake house where I can relax from everything and just have a good time.
Master Deputy Trixie Bankshot wrote:Anything to do with the ocean! Riding my boat or jet-ski, beach parties, whale watching, swimming, snorkeling in the coral reef or just relaxing next to it. Its big enough for everyone, has amazing healing properties and offers some amazing natural beauty and surprises!
Master Deputy Baron Faust wrote:My favorite summertime activity would probably be hanging out on the beach with friends and having a few drinks.
Deputy Sheriff III Harper Flynn wrote:I would say that my favorite summer activity would be spending time with friends! I work so much, sometimes it's nice to just clock off and go hang out with some peeps stress free.
Deputy Sheriff II Kon Klein wrote:In the summertime I like to drink beer and watch women's tennis.
Deputy Sheriff I Kopi Raccoon wrote:My absolute favorite thing to do during the summer is to spend time in nature. Namely, I enjoy visiting national parks and seeing all the wonderful splendor nature has to offer us. While spending time in these parks I enjoy hiking, riding bikes, and if safe to do so swimming in rivers and lakes. I also enjoy watching animals from a distance as much as I would love to interact with them I understand that you never should as animals becoming comfortable around humans can be very dangerous for them.
Deputy Sheriff I Jessica Winger wrote:I love to go swimming in my freetime in the Summer, personally I am planning on teaching my daughter how to swim this year!
