Detailed information of your request:

- Hello LSSD! Reina Moraine here, WEAZEL News!

I was looking for a statement that the SID would like to make (if applicable) on the sudden rise of graffiti around the state of San Andreas. Specifically I would like these questions answered:
  • What is the LSSD's formal response to the rising Graffiti sightings around the state?
  • To what criminal charges (if any) are the LSSD placing on those caught defacing or 'tagging' walls/structures/etc?
  • Are there currently any exceptions as to the placement of charges (if applicable) as it pertains to owners of private property giving explicit permission for individuals to spray paint said property?
  • Do you have a message for the public (Or the criminal underworld) in response to the rising graffiti spread?
  • Does the LSSD have a plan or a formulated strategy to combat the graffiti, in terms of clean up efforts or constant vigilance on patrols?
Thank you for any information you can provide!

    Ms. Reina Moraine

Thank you for making this request, The Los Santos County Sheriff's Department remains vigilant in their battle against the rising graffiti issue, to that end allow me to answer your first and final questions in one answer:

The Sheriff's Information Division, at the approval of Sheriff Bobby Kirk, has began a Clean-Up Competition, where the Deputy who cleans the most graffiti in our wonderful county will win incentive based prizes. This is in an effort to keep our streets clean and beautiful while ensuring that those who own property in the county don't need to kick up any additional cost, as we're absorbing it!

To answer questions 2 and 3, I will preface by citing GM08 - Vandalism
    Image

As you can see here, the penal code explicitly states that defacing or "tagging" as you have added, is punishable by Minor Jail time or Citation if more benign. It also states that this applies to property that is not your own, meaning that if you own the property that you are spray painting or if you have explicit documented proof that the property owner has commissioned you to spray paint their property then it would stand to reason that you are not vandalizing the property.

To the public, We encourage expressions of the mind, body and soul, and with the resurgence in popularity of graffiti style art, all that we ask is that you express yourself in a way that is respectful to those around you, to property owners, and to yourself! Please ensure that any tagging that is done, is done with explicit documented permission, and that you aren't spreading hateful, antagonistic, or derogatory messages with your art!

We extend the timeframe for this request by an additional 48 hours to accommodate any further inquiries or clarifications. For requests on different topics, kindly create a new inquiry.

  • Kind regards,
