• Detailed information of your request:
  • I am hoping the LSPD and its Firearms and Licensing Division can give Weazel News some information and advice in the best practice on filming with firearms.
    
    We are hoping to film a scene that involves the firing of a gun, and we have already taken internal steps to plan how best to approach filming such a scene (if it were possible), such as; split filming so no one is ever in frame with a firearm being fired, outdoors shooting where possible with sufficient clearance and solid backdrops, minimal staff on site when filming is taking place, and basic firearms safety guidelines being followed.
    
    Ideally we would be looking to see if such a filming could occur and still be lawful and following the Firearms and Licensing Division's guidelines and then take it a step further with getting advice on how to minimize as much risk as possible. Is it possible to obtain blank firing ammunition or to have someone from the Firearms and Licensing Division on site when filming (currently unknown distant future filming date) is taking place as a consultant?

  Under no circumstances may a gun be fired with live ammunition for a reason other than those outlined in the firearms regulations. If you wish to fire blanks for the filming, you must notify the police and ensure that we are made aware, preferably with a police officer in place, such that we do not think a shooting is ongoing, which could lead to unnecessary threat to life. You must also follow safety precautions, the same precautions that would be followed when hunting game legally.
