Spring Time Departures

LOS SANTOS, SA —
The Los Santos Police Department (LSPD) regrets to announce the departure of three of it's distinguished and valued members.

Police Detective I Brian Stone, Police Officer III Guilherme Tavares and Police Officer III Austin Reese have all taken the decision to step away from the Department in recent months and we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge their contributions to the Los Santos Police Department in this article.

Police Officer III Austin Reese joined the Los Santos Police Department's Police Academy on July 6th, 2024 and graduated from our Field Training Program later that same month on the 28th of July. During his Field Training Evaluation, Captain Charles Williams remarked that Officer Reese "had a great general attitude and displayed a solid level of confidence. He was extremely polite and respectful, no matter who he was talking to."

Officer Reese maintained that positive, can-do attitude throughout his time with the department, earning a strong reputation both in the community and among his peers. He was promoted to Police Officer II on September 2, 2024, and to Police Officer III in November 2024. In December 2024, he joined the Metropolitan Division as a SWAT officer. During his time with us, Officer Reese earned the Meritorious Leadership Ribbon and the Chief's Unit Citation for his contributions in the Metropolitan Division.

Known for his charitable spirit and work within Los Santos’ LGBTQ+ community, Officer Reese stepped away from the department in the summer of 2025 to volunteer with programs that empower young adults to embrace their differences. He returned for a final period of service in October.

Officer Reese leaves behind a lasting impression as being a warm, friendly and dependable individual. The Department wishes him the very best with his future endeavours and we hope that a third stint of employment with us, will be something he considers in the future.

Police Detective Brian Stone first joined the Los Santos Police Department's Police Academy on August 10th, 2023 and graduated from our Field Training Program on September 3rd. He had a couple of stints with the Department from August 2023 to January 2024 and May 2024 to August 2024.

Following his second stint with the LSPD, Brian transferred to the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department and following a brief hiatus in the Summer of 2025 following his resignation from the LSSD, he decided that he wished to return to policing and to the Department that he considered his home. On his return to the Department, he expressed a desire to become a Police Detective and joined the Detective Services Group at the end of July. He joined the Detective Training Program on October 14th, 2025 and was promoted to Police Detective I on December 1st, 2025 where he has remained until his departure.

Detective Stone, throughout his time with the Los Santos Police Department, was a consummate professional in his duties. He embodied our code of “Courtesy, Professionalism, and Respect” and became well liked in the process. In his final months with the LSPD, he demonstrated a tenacity and strong aptitude for detective work. In October 2023, Officer Stone was awarded the Officer of the Month award for all his hard work that month.

Detective Stone gave creditability to the saying of 'third time is the charm' and he will be missed around the station as he begins this next phase of his life. The department wishes him the best.

Police Officer Guilherme Tavares joined the Los Santos Police Department's Police Academy on April 14th, 2020 and graduated from our Field Training Program on May 11th, 2020. Officer Tavares had two stints with us from April 2020 until February 2022 and then December 2023 until April 2026 during which time he rose to the rank of Police Detective I as part of the Major Crimes Division.

Officer Tavares was the Commanding Officer of the Firearms Licensing Division and spent quite a large portion of his career in the Vinewood Traffic Division / Traffic Enforcement Division. While a significant number of Officers would embrace new advancements and upgrades to our fleet of vehicles, Officer Tavares was a devout driver of the original Buffalo cruiser, a quirk that ingratiated him to his fellow Officers.

While it is no secret that Officer Tavares had some disciplinary issues across his time in the Los Santos Police Department, it should be noted and appreciated that you would be hard pushed to find an individual more resolutely focused on procedure being correctly followed than Officer Tavares, to the point where on occasion, he put himself on the line against fellow Police Officers in the pursuit of justice.

Officer Tavares was a layered and complicated individual, embodying the true duality of man but when he was good, he was great. During his time in the LSPD, Officer Tavares was awarded the Exemplary Field Training Officer Commendation, the Meritorious Patrol Officer Award, multiple Field Training Officer of the Month Awards and the Administration Commendation Award to name but a few.

We would like to wish Officer Tavares the very best with his career in the San Andreas Department of Corrections and would like to thank him for his years of service to the Los Santos Police Department and to the City of Los Santos.
