"EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW"

  • Citizens of San Andreas,

The San Andreas Judicial Branch announces that, effective immediately, the position of Branch Administrator has been formally abolished as part of an internal structural realignment. The head of the Judicial Branch responsibilities will return to the position of Chief Justice, which Hope Kant has taken over.

This change in leadership roles illustrates the stability of the Judicial Branch. Over her time in the Branch Administrator position, the Branch has implemented defined procedures, structured training programs, and an now moves towards an established chain of command capable of sustaining long term leadership.

Hope Kant will remain as the attorney in the cases she was assigned prior to the transition: The Chief Justice position will return to being the leader alongside the high command made up of Attorney General and Chief Public defender position respectively. That being said, the Judicial Branch would like to officially announce the two new heads of the Public Defense division and Prosecution Division. The new High Command of the Judicial Branch will be made up of Chief Public Defender Hugh Allgood, Attorney General Rowin Lawson, and Chief Justice Hope Kant.
Chief Public Defender Hugh Allgood wrote: Greetings, citizens of San Andreas. My how things come full circle!!! I started my legal career in a law firm out in Liberty City, and came to San Andreas several years ago at the Judicial Branch as a public defender. I've held the role of a defense attorney, whether private or public, several different times now, and here I am now holding the role of the Chief Public Defender. I am honored and humbled.

While some may ask how I could be trusted to hold the role of a defense attorney, given I have also held roles as Attorney General and judge, I want to ensure everyone that although these roles are very different, they are also very much the same. As an attorney, you represent the interests of your client, whoever that client is. As Attorney General, my client was the State of San Andreas, and I represented the interests of San Andreas in such role. As judge, both sides are your clients and you have to protect the interests of both, ensuring fairness. As Chief Public Defender, my client will be different individuals who have cases to be heard in any of the San Andreas courts. My role is to ensure the process is fair. At the end of the day, justice is of monumental importance, and it is something I will strive to maintain.

I wish to also congratulate Rowan Lawson on his appointment as Attorney General. Mr. Lawson and I have a good working relationship, and I hope this relationship can continue although we are now in opposing roles.

I look forward to doing the work necessary of maintaining the role of a public defender for those who need it, but cannot or do not wish to seek a private attorney, and also to strengthen the division as it stands.
Attorney General Rowin Lawson wrote: Being appointed to the position of Attorney General is an honor that I take very seriously. I would like to begin by thanking the members of the Judicial Branch for the trust and confidence they have placed in me with this appointment. I am committed to upholding that trust through professionalism, fairness, and a continued dedication to the rule of law.

One of my primary priorities will be strengthening and continuing to build the Prosecution Division. We currently have two new Junior Prosecutors joining the division, Alora Vaughn and Oliver Grant. Both have already demonstrated a strong understanding of legal principles, and I look forward to working closely with them as they continue to develop their skills, participate in cases, and eventually take on matters of their own.

I am also committed to strengthening our working relationships with the legal teams of both the LLSD and the LSPD. The work of the prosecution is inseparable from the work of the arresting departments, and our ability to effectively pursue justice depends on strong communication and cooperation between our offices. It has been a pleasure working alongside the heads of legal for both departments, Tim Sutton and Mark Payne, whose support and collaboration have been invaluable in the collection and preparation of evidence.

I would also like to recognize the efforts of Detective Deul, Maloy, Kingston, Linton, and Knight. Their work in gathering evidence and supporting investigations plays a critical role in ensuring that cases brought before the court are thorough and well-prepared.

As I take on the responsibilities of Attorney General, my focus will remain on strengthening these partnerships, supporting the continued development of the Prosecution Division, and ensuring that our office carries out its duties with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to justice.
The Judicial Branch is excited for the future with an official head for each of their major divisions. We look forward to new cases and continuing justice for the people of the State of San Andreas.
