Those employed by the San Andreas Judicial Branch’s Public Defender’s Office have the privilege of receiving on-the-job training and may take their bar examination free of charge. As the Chief Public Defender of San Andreas, you will lead the Public Defender’s Office and oversee the provision of legal defense for clients who cannot afford private representation. This role demands strong legal expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to public service. You will be responsible for managing a team of public defenders, developing defense strategies, and ensuring that all clients receive fair representation. The Chief Public Defender has the authority to make critical legal decisions, develop office policies, and engage in high-stakes criminal defense work.

As the Chief Public Defender, your duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the San Andreas Public Defender's Office, overseeing all public defense operations and personnel.
• Leading defense teams in complex or high-profile cases, setting legal strategies, and reviewing case developments.
• Collaborating with the Judicial Branch to ensure fair and just representation for all clients.
• Providing training, mentorship, and supervision to all public defenders within the office.
• Serving as the primary representative of the Public Defender's Office in judicial meetings, press inquiries, and public engagements.
• Developing and implementing policies to improve efficiency, case outcomes, and overall performance of the Public Defender’s Office.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, legal precedents, and procedures.

The San Andreas Public Defender’s Office seeks a Chief Public Defender who is deeply committed to providing legal representation to underserved communities. This leadership role requires a skilled attorney with a dedication to public service, a robust understanding of the criminal justice system, and strong organizational skills. Requirements to become the Chief Public Defender include:

• 21 years of age at the time of hire.
• Must be a legal citizen residing in San Andreas.
• Must hold an active Bar License.
• Must not be affiliated with any criminal groups, in or outside of San Andreas.
• Must be in good standing with the state, meaning no outstanding tickets or criminal charges.
• The Judicial Branch reserves the right to deny anyone for excessive citations and/or any amount of misdemeanors committed within the past 2 weeks.
• Must be clean of felonies for 3 months.
• Must not be currently employed by the San Andreas Legislative Branch, a part of the Law Review Committee, or play a significant role in the Law Review Committee. If the applicant is, they must be willing to resign upon successful hire.
• Must hold a valid driver's license with the State of San Andreas.
• Extensive knowledge of the Penal Code is required.
