Los Santos: The Los Santos Police Department's K9 Platoon is providing an update, confirming that one of its K9 officers, K9 Rocky, suffered a gunshot injury to the right paw during an incident involving an armed suspect.
The K9, Rocky, and his handler, Detective Hunter, were carrying out their duties, conducting a normal open-air sniff on two suspects considered to be armed and dangerous, when another suspect, without prior relevance to the scene, haphazardly discharged their firearm at the K9 from a moving vehicle. The suspect's car was pursued by officers, and thanks to the quick thinking of Captain Martin and Detective Molloy, who refused to rest until the suspects were apprehended, the fleeing assailants were arrested.
Other officers present were able to safely remove K9 Rocky from the crime scene. First aid was administered before sending him for emergency veterinary treatment.
Fortunately, much to the joy of all Department employees, and especially Detective Hunter, K9 Rocky is expected to make a full recovery and be back serving the community soon. While the bullet went through his paw, thankfully, no major damage was done to the major bones or tendons. At the moment, K9 Rocky is recovering in the LSPD's brand new state-of-the-art K9 facility.
The suspect in this heinous crime is facing multiple felony charges, including animal cruelty.

LSPD K9 Rocky Recovering After Being Shot in the Line of Duty

In no world will it ever be okay to harm or abuse any animal, let alone a loyal partner who serves our community. No act of violence against those who protect our community will go unanswered, human or animal. Luckily, most people in the world follow the same ideas on animals and don’t discriminate against our K9s purely because they have a job to do. Sadly, there are an odd few who believe otherwise, but do know the LSPD will do everything in its power to make sure someone like that will never have the chance to repeat these foul crimes.”
