Los Santos: On the 26th of July, long-standing veteran of the Los Santos Police Department, Lieutenant Joseph Sanchez, has notified the Department of his intent to retire, leaving behind a difficult void and large shoes to fill.
Lieutenant Joseph Sanchez began his career with the Los Santos Police Department in July 2021, when he initially graduated from the Los Santos Police Academy, the prestigious and renowned training program that Sanchez would one day be appointed to head. A graduate of the field training program, Sanchez was assigned to the Mission Row Patrol Division as a patrol officer, starting off his career.
Sanchez remained in the Mission Row Patrol Division for the coming months of his career, witnessing his rise through the ranks of police officer and eventually being assigned as a training officer. Shortly thereafter, Lieutenant Sanchez specialized and was reassigned to D Platoon, the LSPD's SWAT team, where he would eventually make element leader and advance to Police Officer III+1.
He dedicated the better part of a year to D Platoon until he was reassigned to the then-Vespucci Patrol Division to enroll in the supervisor training program. Succeeding and graduating from this program, Joseph made Sergeant and spent most of 2023 advancing within patrol. Starting as a newly assigned patrol sergeant at the beginning of the year, Lieutenant Sanchez quickly worked his way up to being appointed as the Commanding Officer, Vespucci Patrol Division by the end of it.
Eventually, the Vespucci Patrol Division was closed, and the patrol division renowned for producing many of today's leaders within the Department, the Rockford Hills Patrol Division, was resurrected. Lieutenant Sanchez was appointed to lead this prestigious patrol division, one rich in history, which he has continued to do to this day.
In the background, throughout these years, Lieutenant Sanchez had taken a liking to the processes of the Los Santos Police Academy and became involved as an instructor. Eventually, his dedication enabled him to advance through the internal ranks of the division responsible for the academies.
When an eventual split took place to separate recruitment and academies to have different command teams specifically skilled to tackle their assigned tasks, Lieutenant Sanchez was appointed as Commanding Officer, Basic Training Division, the division responsible for overseeing, managing, adjusting, and operating the very Los Santos Police Academy he graduated from at the beginning of his career.
Basic training and the Los Santos Police Academy are where Lieutenant Sanchez became a staple of the Los Santos Police Department. Alongside his appointed command team, Sanchez has overseen dozens, if not over a hundred, academies and welcomed generation after generation of prospective candidates to the Department.
We thank Lieutenant Sanchez for the great service and dedication he has done and shown to the Los Santos Police Department, its next generations, and the City of Los Santos, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. We hope retirement finds him well and in good health, and he spends his days pursuing only that which he enjoys.
