Los Santos: After each month, supervisory personnel of the Los Santos Police Department conduct a thorough review of officer statistics within their divisions and nominate those who have shown significant dedication to the Department based on statistics such as duty hours, individual performances within divisions, administrative efforts, and above all, their embodiment of the values that the Department holds dear.

The title of "Officer of the Month" is distinguished and is awarded to officers who have demonstrated unwavering dedication, outstanding performance, and unrivaled professionalism in the line of duty, and who through their steadfast commitment to the communities and the pursuit of justice, embody the very essence of the core values of the Department, where excellence is not just another word, but the backbone on which our law enforcement philosophy is built.

This month, it is with great honor that we shine a light on, commend, and salute Detective I Jayson Powell for his efforts, dedication, and achievements. Detective Powell has been voted Officer of the Month for June 2025.

Captain II Jonathan Willowick, Commanding Officer, Major Crimes Division wrote: Detective Powell has been putting in great effort throughout the month, completing his Detective Training Program while putting in 132 hours on shift. During the month, he has put in 167 contributions to our databases. He has become a valuable member ot our division, while continuing to put in good work within his position in the Recruitment and Employment Division.

Detective Powell is a veteran of the Los Santos Police Department, initially beginning his career in law enforcement with the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department in March 2020, before submitting his resignation and applying to the Los Santos Police Department in May of that year. Five days later, on May 16th, 2020, Powell graduated from the Los Santos Police Academy, marking the start of his career with the Department.

Powell completed and graduated from the Department's field training program and was promoted to Police Officer I on June 9th, 2020. He then had a brief resignation, after which he returned in August 2020, followed by another longer-term break from the Department.

Detective Powell returned on October 27, 2024, and once again enrolled in the field training program, from which he had graduated, and was promoted to Police Officer I on November 22, 2024. On February 11th, 2025, Powell was promoted to Police Officer II, which saw his first specialization within the Department shortly thereafter through his reassignment to the Detective Services Group as a Support Officer on March 8th, 2025.

On April 7th, 2025, Powell advanced to the rank of Police Officer III, which paved the way for his reassignment on May 15th, 2025, when Powell was inducted into the Major Crimes Division as a Detective Trainee, enrolling in the detective training program.

Following the completion of his training and graduation from the program, Jayson was promoted to Detective I on June 16th, 2025.

Today, Detective Powell continues to serve as a Detective assigned to the Major Crimes Division, and holds a secondary assignment as a recruitment officer, assisting the Department with recruitment and intake of new candidates.

The Department finds it important to acknowledge the tireless efforts and unwavering dedication of our officers amidst their daily challenges and responsibilities.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Jayson Powell on this prestigious award. We look forward to his continued success with the Los Santos Police Department.
