Letter From the Governor

As we reflect on the progress made throughout May and look ahead to the opportunities June may bring, Governor Whitehorse shares her thoughts on the month’s developments, challenges, and the continued commitment to public service.
Emily Whitehorse wrote:As we make our way into June, the San Andreas State Government continues progressing, unveiling a new internal vision to drive us forward for the rest of the year. This vision includes emphasis on allowing our staff more freedom to bring to life new ideas, creating a stable foundation for our supervisors, and overall making our State Government staff feel more like part of the whole team rather than as isolated divisions.

It is my hope that by establishing this strategic vision, the Government can become a bit more flexible in testing and iterating on new ideas, which can then become the basis for implementation either in an existing bureau or as a bureau on its own.

Looking out at San Andreas, the month of June has numerous important days of recognition, such as Juneteenth, Father's Day, and World Blood Donor Day. The start of June also brings with it Pride Month, a month dedicated to recognising and supporting members of the LGBTQ community. Given the importance of this date to numerous members of our community, I am excited to see the numerous pride-related festivities that are expected to take place this month and hope to visit each event in person to show support for this important part of our collective San Andreas identity.
City of Los Santos Introduces New Bus Routes

To improve public transportation in Los Santos, the Department of Transportation has rolled out new bus routes connecting important neighbourhoods, business areas, and even some of the outskirts. The goal is to cut down on wait times, give more access to places that don’t have great transit options, and promote using eco-friendly ways to get around town.

These new routes stretch from Downtown to parts of Blaine County and are the result of thorough planning, input from the community, and a focus on fair transportation for all. Each route is carefully planned to help reduce traffic, link up major transit stops, and support the city’s growing infrastructure.

As part of our coverage, we spoke directly with several dedicated bus drivers from the Los Santos Transit Authority to gain insight into their experiences.

We caught up with Cindy Rose mid-bus route to get her thoughts on life behind the wheel of a San Andreas city bus.
Why did you become a bus driver?
So why a bus driver, well, I’m new to the City, and I heard that the bus is a good place to start. It pays well, and I was looking for ways to make an honest living in this great state.
Have you had any notable encounters?
Other than meeting friendly people, no, not really.
What's your favorite part?
The travel!
What would you say to someone considering riding the bus rather than driving their car everywhere?
Yes—we need more travellers on the bus. There would be less traffic, and more money in their pockets… and mine too! Hahaha.
We’d like to thank Cindy for taking time out of her busy shift behind the wheel to chat with us. It was a real pleasure hearing about her day-to-day life on the road.
Not long after, we bumped into Ottis Jackson, who also had a few words to share about his own experiences as a bus driver.
Why did you become a bus driver?
Felt like it was my calling and felt a need to support my community in a positive way.

Have you had any notable encounters?

Since Los Santos Transit has taken over, a lot more people have found their passion and love for bus driving, and it's become a great way for us to communicate as a community. That's what's memorable, the interaction with people and the service we're providing.

What's your favorite part?
Just being of service to every day people and helping them get from point A to point B in a safe and timely manners.

What would you say to someone considering riding the bus rather than driving their car everywhere?

I would say that if you get on the bus it's cheaper than fueling your car and more importantly it's great company! It's a great way to meet new people while saving money, really a win win!

Whether you’re headed to work, school, or just exploring the town, these new lines are faster, more direct, and better connected than ever before.

Now’s the perfect time to give public transit a try. It’s affordable, it’s easy, and best of all, it helps cut down on traffic and keeps our air a little cleaner. Win-win.

Let’s take a moment to give a big thank you to the incredible bus drivers who make it all happen. These folks work long hours, rain or shine, ensuring we get where we need to go safely and smoothly. Their dedication keeps the city moving.

So go ahead, tap your card, grab a seat, and take the scenic route. Los Santos is waiting.
In Case You Missed It: Legal Drift Zones Are Here!
Image

Big news for motorsport fans, drifting just got even better!
To support the growing drift scene and keep public roads safe, the State Government has officially designated a number of Legal Drifting Areas across the state. These spots are now open for sanctioned public and private events, giving drivers a safe, legal place to enjoy the sport.

Want to learn more? You can read all about it here.

This is just one of many steps we’re taking to make events across San Andreas safer while still ensuring everyone has a great time. Fun and safety can go hand in hand, and we’re proud to help make that happen.

Together, we’re building a safer, more vibrant San Andreas one event at a time.
See you at the track.
A Fond Farewell to Los Santos Customs

Image

As many of you may have seen in the recent press release, Los Santos Customs is closing its doors after years of dedicated and proud service to our community. While this marks the end of an era, we want to take a moment in this month’s newsletter to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has ever worked at Los Santos Customs.

You all put in so much effort and heart, making Los Santos Customs a spot people really cared about. Even though the shop is closing, the creativity and good vibes it brings will stick around and inspire new things in San Andreas.

If you want to learn more about the closure, you can check out the press release we shared earlier here.

Government Spotlight: Meet the Team Behind the Scenes
Image
This month, we’re shining the spotlight on lead agent Alfie Watch for his outstanding dedication and contributions to the Government Security Bureau.
Since Alfie Watch came back to the Government Security Bureau as a senior agent, he’s been going full steam ahead. He’s been busy coming up with fresh, innovative ways for the GSB to track movements, making the whole operation smoother and smarter.

In addition, Alfie always steps up to help train new agents, guiding them through their first days and making sure they get off to a strong start. He’s become the go-to person for anyone new to the team.

And it doesn’t stop there. Alfie’s also been handling extra admin work, taking care of paperwork, and performing other behind-the-scenes tasks that keep things running smoothly. All of this while still crushing it in his leading role with the bureau.

We thank Alfie for all his hard work and dedication, and we look forward to seeing him maintain this level of excellence while continuing to drive improvements across his bureau.
Moving into June

Image

As we wrap up an exciting and productive May, we’re thrilled to welcome June, which means it’s officially Pride Month here in San Andreas! This special month is a powerful time to celebrate the incredible diversity, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.

As we move through June, we encourage everyone to take part in the vibrant events happening across San Andreas. But beyond the festivities, Pride Month is also a crucial opportunity to deepen our understanding of others. We urge you to take some time to learn more about what Pride truly means, the history behind it, the ongoing challenges the community faces, and how we can all be better allies.

Create a San Andreas where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
