Los Santos: This Thursday, Los Santos Police Department Officers were involved in the shooting of an armed suspect in Pillbox Hill, following a prolonged and violent struggle.
The incident began when an officer received a tip via a personal phone call from a concerned citizen. The caller reported observing individuals with heavy weapons at a bank and making large cash deposits. A black Terminus and a black Mule were described as the suspect vehicles. In response, units coordinated to investigate the area while an LSPD Airship assisted in searching for the vehicles.
Shortly after, the black Terminus and Mule were located in an alley behind the bank, where three individuals were seen nearby. Two of the suspects entered a parked RV, while the third remained outside with a visible pistol on his hip. All three were detained for questioning by LSPD Officers and members of the Gang and Narcotics Division (GND).
During the preliminary investigation, the armed suspect approached the Mule and attempted to interact with it under the pretense of ensuring it was locked. Due to the match with the initial tip, a firearm detection K-9 was deployed. The canine positively alerted on the RV, indicating the likely presence of firearms. All three individuals were then placed in handcuffs for further investigation.
The armed suspect quickly became non-compliant, attempting to flee on foot. He resisted arrest, prompting officers to deploy a taser. Despite the intervention, he continued to violently resist, striking a detective multiple times. The detective responded with baton strikes to subdue the suspect. He was then restrained and read his rights, although he continued to resist both identification and a pat-down while receiving medical attention.
The suspect was transported to Pillbox Hill Medical Center for treatment but remained combative. While in medical care, he assaulted another officer, requiring another deployment of a taser and baton strikes to prevent further escalation. After treatment, the suspect was escorted back to a patrol cruiser—where the situation reached a critical point.
Here, the suspect again became violent and, in a sudden escalation, attempted to disarm the officer by grabbing at his service weapon. Fearing for his life and the safety of others, the officer discharged his firearm, striking the suspect twice and bringing the assault to an end.
The suspect was once again treated by medical staff. With the assistance of another officer, he was successfully placed into custody and transported to the Department of Corrections.
The suspect was formally charged with the following:
