Operation Big Tow - LSPD Tackles Illegally Parked Vehicles

Los Santos: The Los Santos Police Department is proud to announce the launch of a new citywide initiative called Operation Big Tow, focused around clearing stricken, stalled and illegally parked vehicles. This proactive effort aims to not only improve traffic flow and reduce congestion but ensure the safety of all citizens in Los Santos, whether on foot or behind the wheel.

Spearheaded by Assistant Chief Dezzy Bala, Operation Big Tow is already seeing positive results throughout the city with a sharp decline in illegally parked and abandoned vehicles on the city's streets.

The inspiration for this initiative stems from Assistant Chief Bala’s early career in the department. Back in 2019, when illegal parking at the Los Santos Bank was rife, Chief Bala and a number of his fellow colleagues devoted a lot of man hours towards towing vehicles and writing impound reports, in targeted operations. Those experiences gave the Department a unique perspective on the importance of keeping streets clear and functional. Today, that same dedication drives the effort to ensure that Los Santos remains accessible and safe for everyone.

Assistant Chief Dezzy Bala wrote:It's easy for citizens of our great city to under-estimate the negative impact that illegally parked vehicles can have on the general public. This is not Blaine County, we have more than five roads and two vehicles on them!

We'll be damned at the Los Santos Police Department if we're going to sit idly while elderly citizens cannot get out and about in their mobility scooters or while new parents have to squeeze their prams through gaps in our sidewalks, because of the actions of a minority. People in this city earning money, hand over fist, and they cannot seem to take two minutes to buy a parking permit.

Neither I nor the Traffic Enforcement Division, nor any one that wears our black and blue uniform for that matter, will sit idly while this continues to be a problem. We know the city's stance on Mask Enforcement and the push backs from the communities regarding that, but just like with facial concealment, illegal parking is endemic and we won't continue to tolerate it any longer!

You can take that to the bank and legally park it, Operation Big Tow is in full effect. I'd like to thank Miss Jean, for offering to bring this problem to the fore, with her intrepid reporting of this contentious issue.

The newly implemented clean-up focuses on vehicles that are either illegally parked or have become stalled in places that hinder the flow of traffic. Residents are encouraged to contact local mechanics for assistance with repairs. Vehicles found to be causing hazards or violating parking laws will be towed and impounded.

The LSPD's efforts aim to make Los Santos safer and more efficient, with officers and tow trucks deployed citywide to address problem areas quickly. This initiative highlights the department's commitment to creating a more functional city while supporting the community's needs.

For more information on this program or to report repeated instances of stalled or illegally parked vehicles, please contact the Los Santos Police Department's Public Affairs Office. Remember to park responsibly and seek assistance when needed to avoid further inconvenience.
