Los Santos: As the Los Santos Police Department concludes the month of September, Chief Elena Flores extends a message of reflection and addresses the accomplishments, challenges, and future endeavors of the Department.

Chief Elena Flores wrote: As October concludes, November settles in with a cold breeze and leaves falling from trees, low temperatures, and darker evenings. With that, it is advisable for pedestrians to be careful when walking over sidewalks covered by leaves after rain, as they may be slippery and could cause injury, and for drivers to use their headlights when driving in the dark.

October was a notable month for the Los Santos Police Department, with a charity race event spearheaded by the Traffic Enforcement Division for breast cancer awareness which raised $3,000,000 for research, multiple Los Santos Police Academies, the apprehension of a dangerous individual, the recognition of a veteran officer, and a large adjustment to ride-along requirements.

The charity event was hosted by the Media Relations Division and Traffic Enforcement Division as a special charity event, a legal street race, aimed at raising awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness. The event took place in El Burro Heights, where officers of the Los Santos Police Department competed in friendly races with participants, operating police vehicles. An astounding three million dollars was raised for breast cancer awareness and research for a cure.

A four-day manhunt was initiated and concluded in October, seeing the apprehension of Aki Kurokawa, a dangerous individual who had crossed paths with law enforcement officers of both the Los Santos Police Department and the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department. Kurokawa took an investigating officer hostage, which set in motion several run-ins with law enforcement over the coming days. Ultimately, through the collaborative efforts of the two law enforcement agencies and their specialized divisions, Kurokawa was apprehended, effectively ending the manhunt.

We further made a foundational adjustment to the ride-along requirements of the Department with respect to individuals who have a criminal history, which will permit past offenders to ride along with police, so long as they meet the newly established requirements, which require them to be free of (specific) charges for a specified period of time.

Los Santos Police Department Command Staff has also seen adjustments during the month of October, with the re-appointment of Captain Jason Steel, who has advanced to a position as Captain with the Department, following his return as a Lieutenant.

On a final note, I wish to use this opportunity to express once more my gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment of not only our officers, but also the deputies of the Sheriff's Department, all government workers, and every citizen who has contributed to making the City of Los Santos a better, safer place.

The Los Santos Police Department is committed to ensuring and protecting the safety and security of citizens and tourists of Los Santos to the highest standards of law enforcement. We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our ranks. If you are inspired to make a difference in your community, consider a career with LSPD. The LSPD is hiring for the early morning and late night shifts and can be applied to through the online recruitment portal.
