Pedaling Towards Community Connection

Los Santos: You may notice more LSPD officers trading four wheels for two as the Bicycle Coordination Unit (BCU) rolls through the streets of Los Santos. Part of the Media Relations Division and operated by dedicated Community Affairs Officers, the BCU is focused on bringing law enforcement closer to the public.

With the warmer months ahead, the BCU will be increasing bicycle patrols across the city. These officers aren’t just out to stay active; they’re here to build relationships. Whether they’re riding through Vespucci Beach, Downtown, or Vinewood, officers on bikes are ready to stop, chat, and assist. You’ll see them handing out food to those in need, supporting local community organizations, and helping citizens with everyday concerns—from giving directions to providing guidance on filing reports.

The benefits of bicycle patrols go beyond accessibility. They allow officers to move easily through crowded areas, respond quickly where vehicles can't, and stay approachable to the public. The Bicycle Coordination Unit also plays an essential role in public safety during major events. From managing pedestrian flow to responding to incidents in busy areas, the BCU ensures the streets of Los Santos remain orderly and safe.

Beyond these practical benefits, cycling provides a great boost to physical and mental health, ensuring our officers stay in top shape while serving the city. Last but not least, our uniformed bike officers are spreading the “Tour de Fabulous” energy all over Los Santos.

By strengthening the connection between the Department and the community, the BCU helps show a different side of policing—one focused on visibility, support, and meaningful engagement. So, next time you see an officer on a bike, don’t hesitate to say hello or ask for help. We’re not just here to ride—we’re here for you.

Stay safe, stay connected, and keep an eye out for LSPD on the move.
