Chief's Message - March 2025

Los Santos: As the Los Santos Police Department concludes the month of February, Chief Elena Flores extends a message of reflection and addresses the accomplishments, challenges, and future endeavors of the Department.

Chief Elena Flores wrote: As we leave February behind us, we move away from the love-related festivities and fun of Valentine's Day and towards brighter horizons with longer days and nicer temperatures. Three months into the new year, and with time flying, it is fair to say that we have now fully returned to normalcy and the status quo.

Through the month of February, the Basic Training Division of the Los Santos Police Department has made great strides toward what they refer to as "making academies great again." This was highlighted and displayed in full force with the eight-person graduation from the Los Santos Police Academy just two weeks ago. An effort not only consisting of a push by our Recruitment and Employment Division, but also a curriculum review by our academy instructors, to ensure that the curriculum and program offered is not only sufficient in terms of knowledge, but also appealing and interesting.

With the return to normalcy by all, it is also, unfortunately, the case that there have been apparent cases of hostilities and violence toward law enforcement officers once more, including an incident where suspects discharged their firearms at a police K9 cruiser, which was occupied by both the handler and the canine officer. Fortunately, in most incidents, including the canine-involved shooting, the officers have been predominantly unharmed- that includes the canine, which has already returned to patrol.

Unfortunately, Detective Tim Havlicek, Assistant Commanding Officer of the Media Relations Division, put in for early retirement in February. Detective Havlicek has been a staple and pillar for the Media Relations Division, with many of the initiatives that currently represent the division coming from him. As a former Captain with the Department, Detective Havlicek was a tenured veteran, and I wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors.

On a final note, I wish to express once more my gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment of our officers, the deputies of the Sheriff's Department, all government workers, and every citizen who has contributed to making the City of Los Santos a better, safer place.

The Los Santos Police Department is committed to ensuring and protecting the safety and security of citizens and tourists of Los Santos to the highest standards of law enforcement. We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our ranks. If you are inspired to make a difference in your community, consider a career with LSPD. The LSPD is hiring for the early morning and late night shifts and can be applied to through the online recruitment portal.
