2024: A Year in Review
"EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW"

  • Citizens of San Andreas,

The San Andreas Judicial Branch (SAJB) is proud to share the significant progress and reforms achieved throughout the year of 2024. This period marked a pivotal shift in leadership and policy direction, as the judiciary embraced innovative practices to better serve the citizens of San Andreas.

As most are aware in July 2024, the Judicial Branch experienced a historic change in leadership as Chief Justice Robert Winejudge was removed from office and the mantle was passed to Branch Administrator Hope Kant. Through the blood, sweat, and tears of many hardworking individuals, the SAJB has prioritized modernization, transparency, and accessibility, bringing fresh energy and a citizen-focused approach to the administration of justice. These changes reflect SAJB’s commitment to enhancing fairness and efficiency in its processes while ensuring the rule of law remains steadfast in serving all San Andreas residents.

To highlight some of our biggest changes:
    • The self-representation database was updated.
    • Civilians and SAJB employees can apply to become judges. Court Clerk position began hiring and the Judiciary Academy was officially created.
    • Public Notary made it easier to submit and create contracts by creating templates for some of the most used contracts.
    • Bench Trials were added. They are now available for not just misdemeanor, but also felony cases.
    • Misdemeanor Bench Trials are now available upon request prior to serving jail time.
    • The Chain of Command/leadership roles were reinvented.
    • Miranda Rights were updated to clarify that both private and public defenders were able to see defendants upon request.
    • Subpoenas were added to attorneys toolboxes.
    • Public Notary streamlined the process to become an officiant by moving it completely online.
    • The Judicial Branch Handbook and training program were completely updated.
However the most important change that we'd like to highlight from the year of 2024 is the amount of cases we have been able to move through. From completing under 10 cases a month to over 25 cases a month, the Judicial Branch has certainly improved its practices. Don't believe us? Look at the chart below.
    2024 Completed Cases by Month
To clarify the chart, the high dismissal rate reflects the various factors that can lead to a case being dismissed. A dismissal can occur for reasons such as the prosecution deciding not to pursue charges, the defendant failing to engage with the court process, or the defendant waiving their right to trial. In most cases, dismissals align with the best interests of justice.

As we close the chapter on 2024, the San Andreas Judicial Branch would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the citizens of San Andreas for your patience, trust, and unwavering support throughout this transformative year. Your commitment to justice inspires us daily, and we are eager to continue building upon the progress we’ve made. We look forward to what 2025 has in store and to serving you with even greater dedication in the years to come.
