Los Santos Police Department
Los Santos, San Andreas

Los Santos: This weekend, the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department notified the public about the advancement of our former Police Commander Steve Smyth to the position of Assistant Sheriff. In his role as Assistant Sheriff, Steve is to oversee the Patrol Operations which is somewhat akin to our General Operations Bureau in the Los Santos Police Department.
Assistant Sheriff Smyth cut his teeth as a Law Enforcement Officer firstly within the Los Santos Police Department, joining us just over five years ago in 2019 and during his initial run in particular, made his name with the Traffic Enforcement Division (formerly the Vinewood Traffic Division), at the forefront of that division's change in status, as a primary assignment within the Los Santos Police Department. It would be fair to say that Steve oversaw the best period of the Traffic Enforcement Division to date and a lot of that was due to his enthusiasm, focus and drive for the nature of the role.
The hard work, dedication and passion he displayed during this time were some of the qualities that saw him climb the ranks within our Department, all the way up to Police Captain I before departing for his first run with the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department in March of 2022. He continued in that same vein while serving in Blaine County, climbing their ranking structure to the position of Commander before opting to transfer back to the Los Santos Police Department in May 2023, as a Police Captain III.
Upon his return, Captain Smyth found himself involved particularly in our Training Divisions, where he found himself in line for the Bureau Commanding Officer position of the Police Training Bureau, as a result of his extensive background in both the Advanced Training and Field Training Divisions. Ultimately though, it was not to be due to irreconcilable differences and shortly after, the then-Commander Smyth made the decision to transfer back north to the Sheriff's Department in the August of this year.
It is apparent that Steve has continued to lead and demonstrate the values that saw him advance in both Departments following his change in career and on the 14th of December, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Sheriff.
On behalf of both the Office of the Chief and the Los Santos Police Department as a whole, we would like to extend our congratulations to Steve on his new role and we wish him the best of luck moving forward.
