

San Andreas Judicial Branch Miranda Rights Revised "EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW" |

The San Andreas Judicial Branch (SAJB) in conjunction with our State law enforcement agencies (the Los Santos Police Department and the Los Santos Sheriffs Department) are committed to ensuring that all citizens are fully aware of their rights within the justice system. As part of our ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards of legal representation and provide clarity for all individuals, we are announcing an important update to the Miranda Rights as they are applied within the jurisdiction of San Andreas.
Effective immediately, the language of the Miranda Rights will be updated. Below are the updated rights, with the revised text emphasized:
- You have the right to remain silent;
- Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law;
- You have the right to an Attorney to be present during legal questioning;
- If you request one, one will be appointed for you free of charge;
- Do you understand these rights?
This change replaces the previous wording of "the right to a Government Appointed Attorney" with "the right to an Attorney." The change highlights the Judicial Branch and Law Enforcement's dedication to ensure all individuals are given the appropriate and requested legal protection. The previous wording allowed for problematic interpretations that prevented defendants from having access to private defense attorneys during legal questioning and at the San Andreas Department of Corrections.
