San Andreas Judicial Branch Update to Defendant Compensation Framework "EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW"

• Citizens of San Andreas,
  
  The San Andreas Judicial Branch has updated the compensation framework used in cases involving not guilty verdicts. These changes go into effect starting now for all current cases and future rulings.
  
  Below is a reminder of the current system, as well as a comparison of the previous system versus the updated framework:
  
  • Jail Time Compensation
    • Previous: $200 per month served
    • Updated: $300 per month served
  • Fine Reimbursement
    • Previous: Reimbursement of the original fine amount only
    • Updated: Reimbursement at double the original fine amount
  • Impound Fees Reimbursement
    • No Change: Repayment of any fees, if vehicle was impounded.
  • License Suspension Compensation
    • No Change: $10,000
  • Firearms License Revocation Compensation
    • No Change: $25,000 (No Change)
  • Loss of Employment Due to Charges
    • Previous: No formal compensation standard
    • Updated: $50,000 if the defendant can demonstrate they lost employment as a direct result of felony charges
  • Full Not Guilty Compensation
    • Previous: No flat compensation standard
    • Updated: $25,000 flat compensation if the defendant is found not guilty on all contested charges
  These updates are intended to address any previous restitution that may have been missed. Additionally, we wanted payments to not guilty defendants to reflect not only the time they spend in incarceration, but also the time spent working with the courts.
