LSPD Announces Upcoming Fleet Enhancements

LOS SANTOS, SA —
The Los Santos Police Department is an ever-growing and evolving organization, adjusting its available equipment and fleet, and the acquisition and retention thereof, based on the needs of its officers and the residents it serves, and the overall direction of the Department and the City.

To that end, the Department is announcing an upcoming rollout of additions and other adjustments to its vehicle fleet, both ground and aerial. One of the more recognizable vehicles over the years has been the Police Department's police interceptor, manufactured by Vapid, a staple of law enforcement in a different era of time. To broaden the horizons of a car once destined only for the best drivers within the Department, a newer generation model has been acquired and is currently being fitted for use by police. The new model, the Vapid Torrence, will not phase out the old model, as the old model will remain the only variant with a roof-mounted light bar, whereas the new model will be a slick-top variant.

One of the key focus points in the development of the Department's vehicle fleet has been the phasing out of the use of civilian vehicles, and instead fitting these vehicles with police equipment, markings, and lights and sirens. With the fleet changes rollout, the Department will phase out its civilian models of the Shinobi and replace them with a law enforcement variant, fitted with lights, sirens, and police markings.

Similarly, the specialized tactical divisions of the Department have utilized armored vehicles when they have been needed. One example of such a vehicle is the Insurgent, which has not been fitted for law enforcement use but was readily deployed as a retired military vehicle. This means that it holds a stark contrast to the Department's TARV, which was fitted for law enforcement use with lights, sirens, and markings ahead of its deployment. The motor transport division has finally taken on the project of outfitting the Department's Insurgents with lights, sirens, and police markings.

The Department has also acquired a number of Vapid Speedos and outfitted them with lights, sirens, and markings for its forensics unit; sightings of these will be few and far between, but to ensure that the units and divisions are provided with the right and necessary tools for efficient operation, they will be rolled out into the fleet for specialized use.

Lastly, the Department has acquired an Annihilator helicopter, which has been stripped of its weaponry and will serve only as a means of transportation where needed; it is marked in the LSPD's classic black and white color scheme, just as the Buzzard helicopter will soon make its reintroduction with Department markings and coloring.

In an ever-changing landscape, it is vital to continuously review the needs of the Department to ensure that it can continue to operate and carry out its duties efficiently, it is the hope and estimation that the fleet adjustments and additions will not only do that, but also increase public police presence through the recognition of its vehicles, and address concerns of confusion in the use of civilian vehicle variations, such as its high speed motorcycles.
