Los Santos: On the evening of December 24th, 2025, the Los Santos Police Department saw an adjustment to its command-level structure and the core of the Department's patrol operations, with Deputy Chief Elizabeth Sanchez stepping away from her full-time position and transitioning to the reserve program.

Sanchez is concluding a full-time law enforcement career of six and a half years with the Los Santos Police Department. Her career primarily focused on the core of the Department, with her assignment to the General Operations Bureau, the overarching umbrella for all of the Department's patrol operations. In stepping away, Sanchez will be relinquishing her role as Deputy Chief, Commanding Officer, General Operations Bureau.

Deputy Chief Sanchez started her career with the Los Santos Police Department on May 23rd, 2019, after her successful graduation from the Los Santos Police Academy, after which she subsequently enrolled in the Department's field training program. A mere month later, Sanchez completed her field training and was cleared for service and duty, graduating from the training program classes on June 26th, 2019, and becoming a full-fledged Police Officer I.

Elizabeth saw early success in her career, advancing to the rank of Police Officer II on July 24th, 2019, after which she continued building on her foundation and herself as a police officer. On September 24th, 2019, she saw advancement to Police Officer III, a role considered to be a senior officer within the Los Santos Police Department, and a role responsible for partaking in the training of the next generations of officers in the Department.

It was during the last months of 2019 that Sanchez's career began to gain more traction, establishing a trajectory that would eventually set her up to take on one of the most important roles within the Department. On November 18th, 2019, Elizabeth was selected by police command staff to enroll in the supervisor training program, a program with a curriculum designed to train and prepare the next generation of supervisory staff.

On December 22nd, 2019, Sanchez successfully completed and graduated from the supervisor training program, starting her career as a Police Sergeant assigned to the Rockford Hills Patrol Division, where she stayed throughout the next few hoops of her career. Making Sergeant II on May 12th, 2020, Sanchez set out to establish herself within the teams, something which she succeeded in.

Sanchez was promoted to Lieutenant I on March 19th, 2021, and held the assignment of Assistant Commanding Officer, Rockford Hills Patrol Division. On June 27th, 2021, Elizabeth was upgraded to Lieutenant II and assumed the role of Commanding Officer of her patrol division. Eventually, on September 13th, 2021, Elizabeth was reassigned to the Vespucci Patrol Division as its new Commanding Officer.

In this position, Elizabeth succeeded and propelled her career further than ever before. On October 24th, 2021, she was promoted to Captain I and was inducted into the Department's command staff, marking a monumental day in her career. Throughout the end of 2021 and most of 2022, Elizabeth continued to develop her leadership and climbed the ladder of Department ranks and progression, eventually reaching the rank of Commander on July 10th, 2022.

Her next major step came on August 17th, 2023, when she was reassigned to the role of Commanding Officer, General Operations Bureau, giving her the chance to oversee the entirety of the Department's patrol operations, which some have described as the bread and butter of the Los Santos Police. On November 11th, 2023, Elizabeth was promoted to Deputy Chief and inducted as a Staff Officer.

Where others sought specialization and intense ventures, Deputy Chief Sanchez was satisfied with patrol and dedicated her career to leading the bureau she once entered as a freshly minted police officer, leading with care, compassion, and values.

During her tenure within the General Operations Bureau, Deputy Chief Sanchez sought to reinforce the importance of a sense of community and pride among patrol, encouraging her commanding officers to push their officers to be the best versions of themselves, and to provide them with camaraderie through cross-division support, departmental events, and more.

Not only is Deputy Chief Sanchez's story one of career growth and success, but also personal development. During her career with the Los Santos Police Department, Elizabeth met Chief Phillipe Sanchez, both early on in their respective careers, whom she would eventually marry. In a city, state, and department that throws many difficult challenges at everyone, the Sanchez family has continued to thrive, and at the end of 2024, welcomed their first child to the world.

To say that Deputy Chief Sanchez had a long and successful career that touched many within the Department would be an understatement. Her commanding officers and superiors had the following to say:

Chief of Police Phillipe Sanchez wrote:As Chief of Police, I’ve had the privilege of knowing Elizabeth in many roles. Long before we were married, I recognized her as a dedicated officer I met through this Department. Our relationship grew in the same place where she gave so much of herself: long shifts, shared challenges, and a strong commitment to service.

Watching her lead as Commanding Officer of the General Operations Bureau has been one of the proudest experiences of my career and my life. Stepping back from that role didn’t show a loss of passion; it reflected a new priority: being home more, raising our child, and fully embracing our family. Still, Elizabeth’s desire to serve has never faded. By becoming a reserve police officer, she stays connected to this team and the Department she loves while finding balance in this new chapter. I am immensely proud of her strength, her heart, and the example she sets every single day and I feel honoured to share her journey.

As Chief, I will say thank you for your service and dedication over the last six years. As your husband I will say I am incredibly proud of the person you have become and I look forward to seeing where this new direction takes us.

Assistant Chief Scott Dunbar, Chief of Operations wrote:Deputy Chief Elizabeth Sanchez has been a stalwart member of the General Operations Bureau since joining the department back in 2019.

I have had the pleasure of working with her as her direct supervisor for the past two years. During her tenure, she installed and oversaw several initiatives to improve the Bureau, including a restructuring and running multiple events to give back to our officers.

I wish Elizabeth the best in her new role as a Reserve Police Officer and in all her endeavors with her newfound free time.

Assistant Chief Dezzy Bala, Chief of Administration wrote:It is always with a reluctant acceptance when someone that has distinguished themselves in the Los Santos Police Department either chooses to move onto pastures new or step away from role(s) that have defined them and that they themselves have had a defining and long lasting impact while in. It is a testament to her character that Elizabeth has largely remained the same person that she was when she joined the Department in 2019 and it's been her quiet reserved demeanour, her resolute professionalism and her commitment to any role she has taken on, that has seen her rise to her now former position of Deputy Chief.

I wish her nothing but the best in her new role, I hope that it brings her the satisfaction, motivation and happiness that she has brought the LSPD during her tenure.

As a prominent leadership figure, if not the defining leadership figure, within the General Operations Bureau, Deputy Chief Sanchez will be remembered as a compassionate leader who cared for everyone under her supervision, and who sought to innovate and bring positivity, joy, and community to a difficult job and assignment.

With Deputy Chief Sanchez taking a step back from the Department, she leaves a legacy behind that shows that even officials do not have a reason not to care for the bottom line, their officers, and others, and that politics should not come in the way of ensuring their officers are cared for well.

We wish Deputy Chief Sanchez nothing but the best and a prosperous semi-retirement, hoping that she pursues and achieves all she intends and wishes to in her newly freed-up time.
