Types of Events Requiring Road Closure Permits
The LSPD processes permits for a variety of events, including:
- Athletic Events: Marathons, 5k/10k runs, walkathons, and bike races.
- Street Closures: Legal street races, community events, block parties, celebrations, street fairs, parades, and processions.
- Special Events: Citywide special events, red carpet events, grand openings, and ceremonies.
- Political and Demonstrative Events: Planned demonstrations, marches, and political gatherings.
Requirements for Road Closure Permits
To apply for a road closure permit, event organizers must meet several requirements:
- Dedicated Host: Each event must have a designated host responsible for the application and organization.
- Clean Record: The host must have no serious misdemeanors or felonies within the past three months.
- Advance Notice: Submit the application at least five days before the event.
- Event Details: Specify the date, time, and type of event.
- Safety Measures: Provide proof of a Basic Life Support (BLS) certified individual if required and ensure the availability of private security for crowd control.
- Participant Control: Assure LSPD of the ability to manage participants and remove unpermitted individuals, particularly those with gang affiliations.
