The Los Santos Police Department would like to highlight a few criminal & traffic charges from the Los Santos Penal Code of 2018. These are criminal & traffic charges that we believe our citizens have either intentionally or unintentionally neglected, charges that we feel are important for us to highlight in times like these. We would like to remind you that the unintentional act of committing a crime doesn't make you less responsible because it's your responsibility to know the law.We would also like to help people define self-defense, and when your action is no longer self-defense.
Self-defense is the act of defending oneself, one's property, or a close relative from an immediate or active threat. If someone has been a threat to your life and then leaves, if you have to chase that person down, that person is no longer a threat to your immediate safety. Instead of chasing them down, make sure that you, and whoever is around you, gets to safety and that you dial 911. The act of trying to enforce the law on your own is vigilantism and is by law, a misdemeanor charge. Also important to note that using a firearm should be your last resort option, if all other means to defend fails
This is by no means an exhaustive list, again, this is a list of citations and criminal charges that we feel are often missed or misinterpreted.
