Early in the morning of the 13th of October around 0330 hours, an explosion rocked the city of Los Santos, heard for miles all around. Soon thereafter the Los Santos Police Department received a 911 call from a concerned citizen in the Richards Majestic Apartment Complex stating they witnessed smoke and unusual activity in the building. Immediately, multiple units responded to the scene and looked for signs of any further damage, fire, or unusual activity. Smoke was billowing out of one of the higher floors of the apartment complex and shattered glass could be seen both from one of the apartment buildings, most likely from the explosion. For the safety of the public officers established a security perimeter around the apartment complex and awaited further assistance.

  • As this was very late at night into early morning hours the Los Santos Police Department was operating on a skeleton crew composed of a handful of units. Knowing this situation would need more officer presence and with smoke pouring out of the apartment windows the Fire Department was contacted as well as the Sheriff’s Office for assistance at the apartment complex. As a firetruck and two members of the Fire Department arrived they geared up, putting on their full gear with oxygen tanks, breathing masks, and helmets. At the same time, multiple deputies from the Sheriff's Department arrived quickly. They had already been assisting the Los Santos Police Department in patrolling the city, which is not uncommon for nights with a low number of units, as it allows both departments more freedom to work together and assist where needed. They arrived on the scene with the rest of the police department units and assisted in setting up barricades and securing a perimeter around the entrance to the Richard’s Majestic Apartments.

  • In the meantime, two officers found and secured the door leading into the apartment in question, while a member of the Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Detail brought in an armored vehicle for added security. As the apartment was being prepared to be breached and plans discussed between the officers who would be doing so, the Fire Department brought up a halligan tool to be prepared to break into the door of the apartment. After discussing the plan, two officers and one deputy got in a position to breach into the apartment. The Fire Department quickly broke down the door and officers quickly moved in to secure the interior. Unfortunately, the officers could only secure the main room of the apartment quickly before almost being overwhelmed by fumes. While most of the smoke had dissipated at this time, the fumes from what seemed to be burning drug equipment inside made staying any longer impossible - however, the officers did their best to make sure it was safe and clear as best as possible and there were no threats to the lives of the firefighters.

  • Once it was cleared of any possible threat, braving the toxic fumes and getting fresh air when possible, the Fire Department went in to ascertain the cause of the fire and extinguished multiple small fires throughout the apartment. It seems as if the explosion came from a room in which people were trying to manufacture narcotics with multiple caustic and reactive materials.

  • The firefighters were able to clear the area and safely put out the areas of this drug lab with the proper neutralizing chemicals so that it was no longer giving off noxious fumes. They also were able to vent the windows and, once enough of the gas and smoke had been properly vented, the firefighters allowed the breaching team to enter and fully search and secure the apartment. Two deceased individuals were found on arrival with a large number of drug manufacturing equipment being collected during the seizure, as well as a large number of processed narcotics, and drug manufacturing materials.
