On the 20th of September, a Police Officer of the Los Santos Police Department was taken hostage by members of a violent gang at around 1900 during their regular patrol. Per reports, the Officer was taken hostage outside of the Eclipse Tower during an ongoing investigation that followed after suspicious activity was reported in the area. Unprovoked, the armed gang members stopped outside of the apartment complex to confront the Officer before several individuals from the group brandished their firearms at the Officer - physically and effectively overpowering the Officer and taking them hostage.

The Officer was patted down and stripped of their weapons as civilians in the area ran away from the armed gang members in fear. A number of 911 calls came in about an ongoing kidnapping in the area - as Officers were notified it was evident a unit was already present in the area of the call and unresponsive, inciting a wider response from units all around the city. The patrol car of the Officer was used as a diversion as the Officer was restrained by force and put in the trunk of the car which was later driven by assailants in an attempt to escape. As units made their way to the scene of the crime it became more and more apparent the Officer was kidnapped and forcefully moved.

The kidnapped Officer and the stolen patrol car were driven two blocks away from the initial crime scene toward Vinewood Hills where the vehicle and Officer were left on the side of the road. The Officer who was locked in the trunk of the car sent out a distress signal through their radio to which units responded promptly. The Officer was unharmed and the patrol car was retrieved, but there was no sight of the kidnappers. The Officer who was previously investigating suspicious activity at Eclipse Towers identified the later-to-be perpetrators which allowed Detectives to launch an investigation - collecting evidence and witness statements to form an investigation file. The main suspect, the kidnapper that put the Officer in the back of their patrol car and drove it away with no clear motive was later identified and charged with several felonies after the incident took place. The suspect was later arrested and processed following a warrant executed the same week with the suspect willingly giving themselves up.
