- SECTION 3 - PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE
3.1 Have you ever been employed by the LSEMS, DOC, LSPD, or LSSD? If so what rank and positions did you hold, how long ago was your employment and who was your direct supervisor?:- I have not been employed with LSEMS, DOC, LSPD, or LSSD.
- Internship - Liberty City District Attorney's Office
As a young adult, at the age of 18, I interned with my father, a District Attorney, representing Liberty City. My father, Carter LaBlaze, was an experienced attorney of over 25 years. Working with him instilled in me the same attention to detail, diligence, and respect for justice which he had. During my time as his intern, he taught me much about legal precedent, studying case law, understanding the structure of constitutional law, and the importance of a fair and just legal system. My duties included organizing files, answering calls and forwarding them, and attending court to shadow my father. Despite these, perhaps seemingly menial duties, this internship exposed me to the workings of the courtroom and instilled in me invaluable lessons. - Student, Pre-Law - University of Liberty City
At the same time as I was interning with my father, I was attending classes at the University of Liberty City. The university, widely regarded as one of the most prestigious universities in Liberty, was an amazing way to expose myself to learning the complicated workings of the United States justice system. Taking pre-law classes ingrained into me the importance of critical thinking, and certainly showcased to me the value of reading, something which is critical to becoming an effective legal representative. - Bus Driver - Los Santos Transit
After the tragic murder of my father, I moved to Los Santos to start fresh and remove myself from the city that took away one of the most influential figures in my life. Moving here with little cash, job experience, or contacts was difficult. That being said, what I learned through this burdensome period is the worth of hard work. In order to sustain myself, I drove busses for the Los Santos Transit system. The job paid little and required many hours, and this struggle taught me something else which is fundamentally important to pursuing justice - empathy. It is our duty to fully uphold the laws in which our government has established, but it is equally important to respect the rights of human beings and remember them as such. Regardless of monetary value, race, sex, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic; we all share the commonality of possessing humanity and it is important to let our actions and discretion exhibit such acknowledgement. - Trainee - Bayview Auto Center
My most recent, and current job, is at the Bayview Auto Center where I work as a Trainee mechanic. Working at Bayview has educated me on how to form important relationships with coworkers and customers to foster a positive work environment. With more experience in customer service, this job has deepened my ability to act both friendly and professional when interacting with my cohorts and the general public. Moreover, my position has allowed me to further my skills in learning new information and quickly picking up skills which may be foreign to me, as this was my first foray into auto mechanics. - Ride Along - Los Santos Police Department, Los Santos Sherriff's Department
Understanding the fundamentals of law in the courtroom is extremely important, but perhaps equally important, is to learn its common interpretation and current application. In order to further my knowledge in the latter two functions, I have attended several ride along sessions with the Los Santos Police Department and Los Santos Sheriff's Department. I have attended the LSPD ride along program 5 times and the LSSD ride along program twice. In these experiences, I got to witness first hand the enforcement of our states laws, and learned much about the administration of our penal codes.
- SECTION 4 - LONG RESPONSE
4.1 Why do you want to be employed with the Judicial Branch? (75 WORDS):- It is my wish to best aid the people of San Andreas to the best of my ability, and to make our state as great as it can possibly be. I believe that to achieve this goal, the San Andreas Judicial Branch is the best option, and there is no pursuit more grand than that of true, honest, and fair justice. The Judicial Branch is tasked with upholding these values, and it is my hope to contribute to that purpose. The Judicial Branch is in its infancy, and will be ever expanding to provide better protections to the citizens of San Andreas, and it is my hope to take part in that expansion, offering whatever value I may bring.
- I believe that my most valuable trait is the ability to balance empathetic compassion with logical reasoning. Empathy is critical to those serving in any position of authority, especially those serving within our legal system. To understand human nature is of the upmost importance, in connecting with others, building persuasive arguments, and simply undertaking the many daily interaction with agents of law enforcement, judges, clients, and the general public. In addition to empathetic compassion, one must also be able to reason logically. You must be able to analyze information, interpret it's objective or subjective meaning, and create your own coherent argument. This is an absolute necessity within the courtroom, but once again advances goals outside of the courtroom as well. Being logically reasonable builds your credibility in talking with others. I believe myself to possess these traits and effectively balance the use of empathetic pathos and logical logos, which will contribute towards my ability to further the Judicial branches endeavors.
- It is my hope to see a comprehensive penal code established, along with a doctrine of citizen's rights. I believe that law functions at its best when the law is understandable to the common man, and leaves little unintended ambiguity. I wish to see law enforcements and courtrooms interpret the law as it is written, rather than how any individual person may perceive it. I would hope to see the implementation of precedent have an impact on our government's laws, and as judges make rulings, I would hope to see the adoption of an ever-adapting legal system which is always evolving to best serve the peoples for which it was written.
- I have never been arrested, nor convicted, of any felony crime.
- I have never been arrested, neither have I been charged, with any misdemeanor crime.
- I have, indeed, received traffic citations. I have been issued 13 tickets, all of which are for speeding. All of these tickets were issued automatically, via the cities speeding camera system and all of them have been paid off in full. I would submit that some of these tickets were a result of a faulty cruise control, but in the end; the responsibility of driving safely lies with me and I take full responsibility. I have been working, and will work, diligently to ensure my driving conduct does not violate the statutes of our state in the future.
- I was born to a family in Liberty City that was dedicated to the upholding of our justice system. Much like a courtroom, my mother and father found themselves on opposite side's of the law: my mother a civil right's attorney often representing defendants and my father a district attorney often prosecuting criminals. However, as a child, I often saw that when the day ended, both knew they were pursuing justice, no matter which side of the aisle they were representing. Like my parents I have a fondness for our legal system and a respect for its pursuit of just action. My parents were tragically murdered, only a few years ago, at the hands of criminal associates of those my father prosecuted. I hope to carry on their legacy, and to make San Andreas a safe and fair place to live. I have dedicated myself towards helping others since I have arrived, whether it be by common acts of kindness or grueling work at upstanding institutions like Bayview. I would like to, and will, continue this commitment, and that is why I should be selected.
