Detailed information of your request:

Hello, I hope you are doing well!

I am writing to gather more information about a bank robbery that occurred near the Life Invader headquarters on July 8th. While our media team was on scene, we were able to get a statement from Assistant Chief of Police Elena Blake but there was not a ton of information to give as the investigation was still ongoing. If possible, we were interested in the name of the hostage, the names of the suspects conducting the robbery itself, and any gang affiliations. Of course, any other information or comments is always appreciated!

As always, thank you for keeping Los Santos safe!

Warmest regards,
Molly Devil

We are unable to disclose the names of the hostages nor the robbers, we, however, can confirm that neither suspect has any confirmed gang affiliation. For future reference, the Los Santos Police Department should not and will not disclose names of suspects or victims unless completely necessary and previously approved by the mentioned groups if approval is obligatory.

Most, if not all of the information disclosed on the scene of the robbery is the information we are currently in possession of and are able to disclose currently. If you require more information or just need a written form of the previously given information, do not hesitate to reach out again. Assistant Chief of Police Elena Blake was present on the scene of the robbery and provided an official statement, if more clarification is necessary we will gladly provide it. Have a nice day.

  • Sincerely,

Dear Officer Tim Havlicek,

Thank you as always for your prompt response! We definitely understand the inability to disclose the names of the individuals involved. We are just all happy to hear that there were no injuries reported during the robbery, especially considering the hostage situation - which leads me to my next question.

I was approached by an individual off scene who was concerned with the LSPD's response regarding the hostage. Can you share the protocols that are in place for the LSPD in situations like this? Of course the view for myself, and I'm sure everyone else, was obscured by placement of the barricades, but it appeared to the individual that the LSPD took the risk to raid the building while there was a civilian with a gun to his head. If there are any procedures in place that you could share, I would love to add them to the article to clear up any questions our readers may have.

Again, thank you for your time!

Warmest Regards,
Molly Devil

    Mrs. Molly Devil,

Thank you for your most recent response. During this incident, a Sergeant present on the scene took on the role of negotiator and was in constant contact with both of the individuals inside of the bank. Combined with an overview from three different angles, we were able to determine that only one firearm was in possession of the two assailants during this incident relatively early on. The said firearm was often exchanged between the two assailants to swap places if you will.

While the statement in itself is mostly correct in stating that the hostage would have been under gunpoint for the majority of the incident, LSPD METRO SWAT entered the building when the exchange of firearms occurred. Neither of the two assailants was actively in any position to do any harm to the hostage at this time, and both assailants were overwhelmed and immediately apprehended. The Los Santos Police Department will never take unnecessary risks and will only act in the best interest of public safety; at this moment, it was determined that this was the safest and quickest option to bring the hostage to safety. Furthermore, METRO SWAT waited for this opportunity to arise based on the valid information provided to them and witnessed by them; this was not a rushed or uncalculated decision.

It is difficult to disclose and share any direct policy with the media in terms of hostage negotiations or handling hostage situations due to the vast difference in each situation, requiring us to take all factors into consideration which in turn results in our officers having to treat every situation differently and on a case-by-case basis. In most cases, the response level of the LSPD is directly based on the agenda of the hostage-takers. We will always seek a peaceful resolution, but unfortunately, under some circumstances, such as direct life-threatening harm to a hostage, we cannot always guarantee an incident concluding in a peaceful manner. The safety of any hostage will always come first.

To summarize, the hostage did not have a firearm pointed at his head or any part of his body at the time of the forced entry of the LSPD due to an exchange of the single firearm between the two assailants. No individuals were harmed during this violent crime, the hostage was secured and safely escorted, and later spoken to and checked up on by the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services.

While unrelated to your most recent request, further information following the conclusion of the investigation in the matter has also shown that $380,000 worth of stolen packets of money were recovered from the assailants and returned to the bank in question.

    Sincerely,
