Deputy Chief of LSEMS Samantha Tenbe

Joining LSEMS in the Summer of 2020, a keen EMT Samantha Tenbe was seen to be a fantastic EMT. She would work very hard and be professional on and off duty. She continued to shine as an effective and efficient EMT with leadership potential continuously, as her promotion accredits her.

Before joining LSEMS Tenbe was a part of the Los Santos Sheriff's Department, she enjoyed her time there but something about aiding people when they needed it most appealed to her, she said "seeing people in pain was hard for me". She shortly left LSSD and joined LSEMS.

Samantha Tenbe was asked what the main thing she learned when she joined was, she replied, I learned to "stay calm and do stuff at my own tempo", she then admitted, "I had a hard time getting through it" (relating to the training phase) as she "never had trust in myself that I was good enough to do this job". Once successfully completing her training she began to really fill the role of an effective EMT, she began to come into her own and show off her skills both in the field, providing life-saving treatment, in the office with paperwork, and training the new recruits coming through the system. She says that when she was training new EMRs she would always try and "push them to break out of their shell and believe in themselves".

On the 6th of June 2021, (the then) Lt Tenbe was promoted by Chief of Los Santos Emergency Medical Services, Nicole Crawford, to Deputy Chief of LSEMS, along with Deputy Chief Oliver Jenkins. In reaction to the promotion, she says she was "speechless and had to take a moment" the shock and excitement that filled her body was overwhelming. Her reaction was put on hold as her first task as Deputy Chief was to happily promote her closest friend and husband, Lt Charles Tenbe to Commander. To honor their achievement the newly promoted couple dined together, proud that their hard work had been recognized.

Deputy Chief S. Tenbe was then asked what her mission was in her new position within LSEMS. She stated that she is focusing on building respect within LSEMS between co-workers, superiors, and other departments, making a workplace environment that is comfortable and positive. In turn, creating a good picture of LSEMS. Additionally, she aims to grow LSEMS to the point where it is self-sufficient and doesn't require high command to interfere too much with the duties of the EMTs.

To round up her interview, the Deputy Chief was asked what advice she would give to a new member of the service.
She said, "Honestly, to take it easy." She continues, "Do not rush your training" she emphasized to "have fun while learning" and to close she said "most important, don't be afraid to ask questions"

A huge well done to Deputy Chief Tenbe and to all those who promoted this month.

It's June! Which also means Pride month!

Self-expression and feeling yourself is a big part of this month and everyone should be happy and supportive of one another!

Whether part of the LGBTQ+ community or not, this month try and be open with yourself on any troubles or issues you may have bottled up inside.

Talking to friends and family about things that are on your mind is super important. Talking about problems will make them smaller, helping you relieve some of your stress making you feel free to be you.

Remember to look out for your friends too, check up on them and make sure they are okay, offer them an ear if they need to speak to someone.

In LSEMS we offer mental health support within our CRU department, if you are looking for some professional advice, someone to talk to or have concerns about your own, or someone else's mental health wellbeing then get in contact and book an appointment.
