Hello,

I was made aware of an incident at occurred at the Vespucci Beach Party hosted by Steamboat Beers. The event took place on June 26th at 9pm. Unfortunately I was not present when the incident took place, but I have had several people mention that there was a potential hostage situation involving a masked man that led to several LSPD officers having to draw their firearms.

I am currently working on an article covering the event, and if you have any additional details or comments that you could share with me, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings, I hope you are doing well first and foremost.

    We are currently in the process of collecting more information on the incident. We can confirm that there were at least 3 units present on the scene at the time of the incident which was preceded by a 911 call made in the area of the party - reporting the brandishing of a deadly weapon, a firearm. No injuries were reported on the scene. We will disclose all and any additional information in a timely manner. If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to forward them.

    An unrelated investigation was being conducted in the Vespucci area before units were notified through 911 about an individual acting in an unruly manner at the party, in other words, disturbing the peace. On arrival, 3 units confirmed shots were fired in the area of the gathering but were unable to pinpoint the exact location of the suspect. As additional 911 calls came through the area was thoroughly combed by the 3 units that initially arrived to assist with the disturbance and 7 other Officers that later arrived to assist with the then escalating situation. As Officers moved through the crowd the suspect shot once more before the responding units pinpointed the location of the suspect and moved in.

    The shooter, the primary suspect took an individual hostage before negotiations succeeded. Eventually, negotiators on the scene persuaded the suspect to lower their weapon and free the hostage before the suspect was placed under arrest. No injuries or additional arrests were reported on the scene.
