Paramedic Hunter Stile

Joining the LSEMS family back in the Summer of 2020, an eager EMT Hunter Stile was seen to be an exceptional medic. He would work hard and professionally. After a short break from the service toward the end of 2020, Hunter would rejoin LSEMS earlier this year where he continued to shine as one of our most talented medical personnel, as his promotion shines credit to.

The then Master EMT Stile was promoted to the rank of Paramedic on the 18th of May, meaning he becomes an official supervisor of the service, a role that he had prepared for as a senior EMT.

When asked how he felt about his promotion he said, "I'm happy the hard work that I did was recognized" and that he was, "proud of his rank" he continued to say he was "excited to begin in his new role".

Paramedic Stile spent his first shift as a supervisor partnered with his long-time friend Duke Springstine, diving straight back into the work at hand.

Paramedic Hunter Stile is an inspiration to look up to for new EMRs and senior EMTs alike. "Always have confidence in yourself" is something the Paramedic seriously believes in, "I thought I wouldn't make it" "but I didn't give up". He is an exciting example of what everyone can achieve with hard work and a professional mindset.

Since we are approaching the summer months, it is important for everyone to understand water safety.

Water safety refers to the rules set in place around bodies of water where there is a risk of injury. Water safety is important because a lifeguard will not always be available and it could lead to fatal accidents.

With over 15 certified lifeguards, LSEMS is hoping to bring more safety to those who decide to stay near the water and at the pier. While we can not always guarantee that a lifeguard will be available, we can give you a few tips to help you be safe next to the water.

First, if you are going to be moving near water for an extended period of time, we ask that you dress for the occasion. If there were to be an accident and you were to fall in the water, it is much easier if you are in clothing appropriate for the water rather than long pants or jeans, or jackets.

Secondly, we ask that you never go alone. Simply put, if there was an accident and you had no way to contact 911, someone else would be able to.

Thirdly, there are more injuries than those related to the water. This could include sunburn, alcohol poisoning, and vehicular accidents. These are extremely common on the pier. With the reduced speed limit, please pay attention when crossing the street to reduce the number of accidents and calls from the pier.

Finally, it always helps if someone nearby is BLS certified to help out until an ambulance gets on scene.
