OFFICER OF THE MONTH
-
-
Each month, one officer is selected by our Police Supervisors to receive this most prestigious award. This award is an overall congratulation for universal commitment, achievement, and excellence throughout the department. An officer who achieves this award is an exemplary member of the department who should be looked up to as an inspiration and role-model.
-
----Nearly two years ago, on the first of July 2019, Police Officer III+1 Steve Martinez joined the Los Santos Police Department as a Police Cadet. As per his own standard, Officer Martinez rose through the ranks at the Los Santos Police Department swiftly, eventually making it up to the rank of Police Detective II, a supervisory position within the Los Santos Police Department, before resigning a bit over a year later. Just over four months ago, Officer Martinez reinstated to the Los Santos Police Department as a Police Officer III and quickly earned himself a promotion to Police Officer III+1 as well as a supervisory position within the Vinewood Traffic Division. Aside from the aforementioned, he additionally spends his time on shift conducting duties for both the Media Relations Division, where he is a Media Relations Officer, as well as the Field Training Division, where he is a devoted Field Training Officer, trying to get the absolute best out of Police Cadets every single day.
Police Officer III+1 Steve Martinez
During the month of May 2021, Officer Martinez set himself apart even by his own standards. Overall, Officer Martinez contributed greatly to the Department with a total of 92 paperwork, 124 hours on shift, and a combined total of 20 field training contributions aside from his great influence in the field: all in all a simply exceptional performance. Nevertheless, Officer Martinez keeps adamant about improving himself as well as his fellow officers, making him a great candidate for this monthly award. We would like to congratulate Officer Martinez on this and look forward to what his future will bring to the Los Santos Police Department.

FEATURED DIVISION
- The Media Relations Division is situated under the Administrative Service Bureau of the Los Santos Police Department. The mission of the Media Relations Divison is to develop, nurture and maintain a trusting relationship between the Department it represents and the public. Providing information, transparency and stories is one of the few roles the Media Relations Division takes on.
The Media Relations Division is split into two separate, official units - the Media Relations Unit and the Community Relations Unit. A Media Relations Officers of the Media Relations Unit, routinely, takes on several tasks some of which are drafting press releases, drafting public service announcements, and working on the Monthly Bulletin. Being a Media Relations Officer also opens up a pathway to one of the most unique positions of the Department; becoming a certified Liaison gives increased authority to release information to members of the press and public that otherwise only Staff Officers may share.
-
- -
A Community Relations Officer of the Community Relations Unit plays an important role in the Media Relations Division as they strive to maintain a strong relationship with community leaders and community members, how locally, that on a larger scale. Community Relations Officers are passionate about their mission to spread awareness and build trust with the larger public. Community Relations Officers routinely plan and organize internal and interdepartmental events, conduct community police patrols, answer public inquiries and actively work with other agencies, Departments, and businesses.
-
-Commanding Officer Jonathan Norton wrote: The role of the Media Relations Division is to be a communications channel between the community and your police department. When I first joined the LSPD over two years ago, I had a goal to help bridge the gap between the community and the police, and since then we have come a very long way on that front. Every member of my team shares this vision and works tirelessly for our mission, and I am proud of their efforts.
We have many ideas still in development to further our mission by creating working relationships with various community organizations and news media. I am grateful for having been given the opportunity to run this division and see a very bright future ahead of us thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, from every Police Officer in the division to the Chiefs.
- Media Relations, as a division, have undergone massive changes in the past few months from the introduction of the Community Relations Unit to the rebranding of the public image it holds today. Structural developments began in early November 2020, and were led by now-retired Detective Belle Cavallera. Sergeant Jonathan Norton was appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Media Relations Division in late December effectively following through and handling the developments of the Community Relations Unit of the previous administration with Lieutenant Grace Hunter, Officer-in-Charge of the Community Relations Unit.
-
- -
The Media Relations Division will continue to develop and improve itself as it selflessly strives to provide for the community of Los Santos and San Andreas. The division currently houses 11 employees with Deputy Chief Jay Bacon as the Director of the Administrative Services Bureau. To join the Media Relations Unit members of the Los Santos Police Department must hold the rank of Police Officer I and above, while to join the Community Relations Unit a member of the Los Santos Police Department must hold the rank of Police Officer II and above.
FEATURED EMPLOYEE
- Deputy Chief of Police Phillipe Sanchez grew up in a rural part of middle England, Leicestershire. Born on a cold night in February, young Phillipe Sanchez was raised by a single caretaker, his devoted mother, with whom he shared a close bond growing up. Having been impressed by and enjoying the educational system he was brought up in, it was only natural that at the age of 19 he started studying at Oxford University in order to obtain his educational degree himself.
After his graduation from Oxford, Phillipe felt he needed a change of scenery to flourish and decided that Los Santos was the perfectplace for him to make a new start. Upon arriving in Los Santos, Phillipe did not join the Los Santos Police Department straight away as most will have thought. Still having the desire to help people, Phillipe decided to apply for a job at the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services, where he managed to quickly climb the ranks to EMT-A.
Deputy Chief Phillipe Sanchez
While enjoying the job and the life that the Los Santos Emergency Medical Responses offered, Phillipe still felt something was missing. Because of the nature of his job, Phillipe worked together with members of the Los Santos Police Department quite often and started becoming familiar with both the officers and their procedures. After a conversation with then Commander Lewis Langley and Captain Marco Davis, Phillipe was convinced that the Los Santos Police Department was able to offer him what he searched for.
Nearly two years ago, on the first of September 2018, Phillipe joined the Los Santos Police Department as a Police Cadet. As per his own standard, Phillipe rose through the ranks at the Los Santos Police Department swiftly, eventually making it up to the rank of Police Sergeant I, a supervisory position within the Los Santos Police Department. This is where Phillipe met Elizabeth, who turned out to be the love of his life and the support that brought him to where he is now, a well-respected Deputy Chief of Police.

- -
Being asked about his proudest achievement during his tenure at the Los Santos Police Department, Phillipe responded with something that many will agree characterizes him: surpassing his own expectations. According to himself, he never expected to receive any promotions from the point of being a regular police officer, but nevertheless kept working hard and making his dreams become reality.
Needless to say, Phillipe holds himself and the Los Santos Police Department to the highest standards possible every single day. It is no surprise that his three goals for the Department have to do with these same high standards. It is therefore no surprise Phillipe has always been the most invested in the Field Training Program, enabling officers to receive better training and becoming a better version of themselves in service of the community of the State of San Andreas. The current goals Phillipe eyes for the Department are enforcing higher police standards, ensuring communication between supervisors and officers is both streamlined and efficient, and scrutinizing police training to make sure this has and remains at the highest standard possible. For himself, Phillipe has the dream of one day starting his own family with Elizabeth, which would contain them living together in Vinewood with three kids and a dog.
In relation to his future in the Los Santos Police Department, Phillipe still gets energized by working with fellow officers day in, day out. As many will know, Phillipe is well-known and respected for his down-to-earth presence. We would like to thank Deputy Chief of Police Phillipe Sanchez for his time and to wish him the best in his career, whatever it may bring him but hopefully something that will keep him around the Los Santos Police Department for a very long time to come!

FEATURED INCIDENT
- Drug Lab Bust - Chumash
From Week Report 2120
Following an explosion late on Wednesday, the Los Santos Police Department as well as the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services responded to a burning building in Chumash. Following a battle with the blazing inferno, officers cleared the compound and begin to investigate the cause of the fire. A massive drug lab operation was discovered in the building, showing that it had been the site for major drug production. Officers confiscated over 40 sets of drug manufacturing equipment and a nigh uncountable number of the finished product. No arrests have been made at this time, however, the building was cleared and marked safe later that day.
