"TO PROTECT AND SERVE"

  • Members of the Public,

On September 27, 2018, the Government of San Andreas finished their project in Rancho, and we can now officially welcome the Los Santos Impound Lot. In addition to the Impound Lot, the Government of San Andreas has also funded Parking Meters in several locations throughout the city, locations that have been affected the most. Parking Meters are paid by the minute and you as the driver of the vehicle, can decide for how many minutes you want to pay for.

As of recent, we've had an increased amount of vehicles obstructing pedestrians and motorists, as well as obstructing business owners by vehicles being parked illegally and left overnight. The Impound Lot serves as a purpose to educate vehicle owners on the potential consequences, for example, leaving a vehicle parked in the Medical Department's emergency bay, the Police Department's emergency exit, or on the freeway. Most of these cases pose a great hazardous risk to the public and our first responders, thus it was inevitable to not open up an Impound Lot.

The Impound Lot is a property of the Los Santos Police Department but the Police Department has partnered with Bayview Auto Center and Los Santos Customs, allowing their employees to impound vehicles at the Police Department's request. The release of vehicles is done by the Los Santos Police Department, and the fees are as following:
    • Impound: Base fee of what your insurance company doesn't cover, equal of what it would cost you to retrieve your vehicle from Mors Insurance.
    • Towing Fee: $1,000.00
    • Release Fee: $1,000.00
    • Storage Fee (Daily): Covered by your insurance.
To have your vehicle released from the Impound Lot, you must do the following steps:
    • Drive or walk over to the impound lot, and make sure that you bring a valid driver's license with you. In the event that you have no valid driver's license, you must bring a third party with one. Your vehicle will not be released if you are unable to provide the officer(s) with valid identification and a valid driver's license.
    • Once at the impound lot, use the notification alarm by the release area to notify units of the Police Department that you are in need of assistance. (( /release )).
    • Once an officer arrives, they will do the necessary ID checks to confirm that you're in fact a vehicle owner and that you or somebody else with you have a valid driver's license.
    • The fee is deducted automatically from your bank account, assuming that you're using a credit/bank card. Otherwise, it can be paid in cash to the Impound Lot staff. (( It's deducted automatically by the script. ))
The Los Santos Police Department has based their impounding guidelines and procedures around the City of Los Santos Penal Code 2018. VC-02 in the penal code which defines Illegal Parking. Illegal Parking is defined as following:
    Spoiler
    • Parking your vehicle in any place not designated for parking a vehicle or in a marked spot without authorization.
    • Where a "No Parking" sign is posted.
    • On a marked or unmarked crosswalk, sidewalk, partially blocking a sidewalk, or in front of a driveway.
    • In a space designated for parking or fueling zero-emission vehicles which display an identifying decal.
    • In a tunnel or on a bridge, except where permitted by signs.
    • Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant or a fire station driveway.
    • On or within 7½ feet of a railroad track.
    • Between a safety zone and the curb.
    • On the wrong side of the street.
    • At a red curb.
    • On a freeway, except: In an emergency, when a peace officer or device requires a stop, where a stop is specifically permitted. A vehicle (even if disabled) that is stopped, parked, or left standing on a freeway for more than 1 hour may be removed.
    • On property without consent from the property owner.
    • In a space where parking meters are enforced, without paying for parking.
These are the internal criteria for motor vehicle impounding that employees of the Police Department are expected to follow:
    Spoiler
These are the following criteria that must be met before you impound a motor vehicle:
    • A motor vehicle has been used in relation to a crime, and it's registered to an occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crime being committed.
      • Vehicles that are stolen and then used in a crime, still needs to be impounded but we only impound it for the reason of safe keeping. This will be free of charge for the vehicle owner. (( See commands, it's 2 separate commands for regular & secure impound. ))
    • A motor vehicle has 3+ outstanding parking tickets.
    • A motor vehicle is registered to a felon with active felony charges.
    • A motor vehicle is parked in a No Parking Zone and the owner can't be reached.
      • Locations such as the medical emergency bay, police parking lots and other locations which obstructs the work of a first responder justifies immediate impounding if the owner isn't by their motor vehicle and ready to move it.
    • A motor vehicle may be impounded immediately if the vehicle is in a public place and the authorized officer is satisfied on reasonable grounds that its immediate removal is justified, as it is causing an obstruction to traffic (vehicular or pedestrian) or is likely to be a danger to the public.
    • A motor vehicle is parked in a business parking lot for a prolonged period without being on the premises of the business. Such businesses can be the Bank of Los Santos and Civilian/Employee Parking Lot of Mission Row. If towing and impounding a car from Mission Row, make sure that it doesn't belong to an employee of the department. A justifiable waiting period is 10-15 minutes before you impound a car from a business parking lot. (( This is basically a prevention to people parking cars in No Crime Zones and logging out. ))
    • Certain parking spots are connected to a parking meter, make sure that you check whether the parking spot has a parking meter, and if it does, check whether the motor vehicle(s) in those parking spots have active meters. If their meter has expired, you can proceed with immediately removing the vehicle from the parking spot.
