On Sunday, February 8th, 2026, two armed individuals unlawfully broke into the perimeter of the DOC facility in an attempt to break several inmates out.

The individuals were able to gain access to the prison yard, where they made contact with and collected four inmates. While they briefly exited the yard area with those inmates, they were swiftly intercepted by responding Department personnel before they could progress any further within or beyond the facility.

Due to the rapid and coordinated actions of the department’s Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT), the situation was contained, all inmates were secured, and no escapes occurred. The facility was promptly placed on lockdown while the assailants were transported to and back from the hospital.
'Chris Whittle, Commanding Officer of CERT' wrote:
My CERT Operatives here at The San Andreas Department of Corrections are second to none. From the moment we became aware of 2 individuals with weapons near the prison, they sprung into action, preventing 2 highly dangerous criminals from inflicting further misery upon the citizens of The State of San Andreas. My Operatives train day and night for exactly this kind of situation and I'm very glad that they managed to bring it to a safe conclusion with no inmates or guards suffering any notable injuries.
During the weekly meeting held on Friday, Captain Whittle formally expressed his sincere appreciation to the officers whose swift and decisive actions successfully prevented the attempted prison break. He commended each officer for their outstanding service, professionalism, and dedication to duty. In recognition of their exceptional efforts, all involved were awarded the Bleeding Heart Ribbon.
