Los Santos: The Los Santos Police Department, at the start of October, rolled out an unprecedented variety of pink-highlighted and pink-colored patrol vehicles through the motor transport division and made them available to all Department personnel.
"It is an honor to continue raising awareness for such an important cause," said Chief Elena Flores. "The unfortunate reality is that nearly everyone knows someone who is impacted by this disease, either directly or indirectly, which is why supporting and raising awareness, encouraging women to have screenings regularly, or raising funds for research is such an important matter to us, and this has become a meaningful tradition for us."
Though it is not the first time the Department has taken a plethora of pink-highlighted vehicles onto the streets of Los Santos, it is the first time in documented history for the Department to expand beyond mere highlights and deploy a fleet of bright, pink-wrapped police cruisers and motorcycles to attract further attention and promote regular screenings.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in every eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. The deployment of the Department's pink fleet is aimed at reinforcing its commitment to providing powerful reminders and contributions to the annual worldwide campaign that promotes early detection of breast cancer and regular screening.
These vehicles may further make special appearances at city events throughout the month.
Beyond the deployment of the traditional pink-highlighted and new pink-wrapped vehicles, the Department has also returned its special pink social media icon and adjusted Department seal. Varying divisions of the Department may further host events throughout the month aimed at raising funds for charity and/or raising awareness; no events have been confirmed as of October 1st. Future events will be announced through news outlets and social media.
Breast cancer is treatable, but early detection is key in doing so; the Los Santos Police Department encourages all to join the fight to find a cure by getting educated, spreading awareness, and staying up-to-date on your mammograms.
