  • The Government Security Bureau (GSB) is proud to announce the official launch of its K9 Unit, a specialised team dedicated to strengthening the Bureau’s mission of protecting government property, high-profile events, and VIPs across the State of San Andreas.

The GSB K9 Unit serves as an extension of the Bureau’s regular duties, with its primary focus on explosive and firearm residue detection. These highly trained canines will provide an additional layer of security, ensuring swift, precise, and reliable protective measures in scenarios involving state facilities, official events, and visiting dignitaries.

Each GSB K9 is raised and trained by the National Police Canine Association, a non-profit organisation recognised for its commitment to developing elite working dogs for public service. Once paired, GSB K9 Handlers undergo a dedicated bonding period with their canines before embarking on rigorous training. This training includes:
    • Leash control techniques
    • Reading a dog’s emotional state
    • Attack and defensive manoeuvres
    • Building sweeps
    • Scent detection

Only after completing this intensive program do handlers become fully certified members of the K9 Unit.

    Leadership Spotlight: Agent Lue Washington

The newly launched K9 Unit will be led by Agent Lue Washington, who brings years of experience and passion for canine operations.

Agent Washington began his K9 career with the Los Santos Police Department, serving as a K9 Handler for six months before joining GSB. His longtime K9 partner, Tyson, has stood by his side since his LSPD service and now continues to serve proudly within GSB.

As one of the very first K9 Handlers in GSB, second only to Lester, Agent Washington played a crucial role in shaping the foundation of the Division. From helping draft the K9 Handbook to leading training sessions, his dedication and expertise were instrumental in establishing the Unit’s standards and protocols. His efforts and leadership have since earned him a promotion to Head of K9.

    Statements from Leadership

Agent-III , K9 Command, Head of K9 Lue Washington wrote:
“K9 is a deep and loving passion of mine. Dogs are amazing creatures that humans have been blessed to live this life with. Having the ability to mix two passions, serving my community as a Police Officer and Agent, while also working with and caring for K9s is truly a blessing I’ll never take for granted. This Unit represents the future of GSB, and I’m honoured to lead it alongside my partner Tyson.”

Security Director of General Operations, Lester Conway wrote:“The concept of a K9 division has been a vision of mine since my time as an Agent II. When I assumed the role of Director, my immediate priority was to address and resolve the outstanding challenges facing the Bureau. Once stability had been restored, I turned my focus toward advancing new initiatives that would strengthen our capabilities and enhance our service to the State. At the forefront of that vision was the development of a dedicated K9 division.

To lay the foundation, I conducted extensive research into canine training, carefully studying their capabilities, limitations, and areas of excellence. I also consulted with Government Agencies, including the Los Santos Police Department, the Los Santos Sheriff’s Department, and the San Andreas Department of Corrections. Their valuable insight played a key role in shaping how the Government Security Bureau K9 program would operate.

I then began training my own K9, Artemis, who went on to successfully pass the Los Santos Police Department’s official K9 evaluation.

Not long after, the Bureau welcomed Lue Washington, a former LSPD K9 handler. His expertise and advanced training methods have significantly elevated our program, introducing new techniques and protocols that have set a standard of excellence within the division. Lue’s exceptional performance and dedication have surpassed every expectation, and it is with great pride that I announce his promotion to Head of the GSB K9 Division. I have full confidence in his leadership and look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of the unit under his command.

At present, the GSB K9 Division has two fully trained and operational service dogs actively deployed in the field, with an additional four undergoing rigorous training. This marks an important milestone in strengthening our operational readiness and expanding the Bureau’s ability to fulfill its duties with the highest level of professionalism.”

Security Deputy Director of Special Operations & Head of Recruitment and Training Division, Tristan Murphy wrote:The launch of the GSB K-9 Division marks a major step forward in enhancing our operational capabilities. Under the leadership of Agent Lue Washington, this division is already off to a strong start. His dedication to building the program from the ground up, enrolling new agents, and pushing forward with rigorous training initiatives has been instrumental in turning this vision into reality. We’re proud of the progress being made and excited for the impact this specialised team will have in the field.

          • Four additional canines currently in advanced training, set to join active service in the coming months.

          Training & Certification Process

Every GSB K9 undergoes a strict training regimen that mirrors the highest standards of law enforcement canine programs nationwide. Dogs are trained to:
          • Identify explosive compounds and firearm residue with precision
          • Conduct searches of vehicles, buildings, and outdoor environments
          • Assist in VIP protection operations
          • Support defensive tactics and handler safety protocols
          • Adapt to high-pressure environments without distraction

Handlers themselves endure months of physical and mental preparation, ensuring they understand not only canine control but also the unique emotional and psychological bond required to work as a true team.
