Los Santos: As the Los Santos Police Department concludes the month of July, Chief Elena Flores extends a message of reflection and addresses the accomplishments, challenges, and future endeavors of the Department.

Chief Elena Flores wrote: July was a month of notable patriotism, celebrating the 4th of July with a large celebration on the Del Perro Pier, as well as various, perhaps more personal, smaller events, such as neighborhood barbecues and family get-togethers. The month of July flew by as fast as those fireworks flew into the sky on that evening.

With July also came the first push into the actual summer, which has been a bit of a point of contention across the world, where some countries find themselves in the middle with milder or nicer temperatures and decent weather, and some are on the less fortunate end, where they are flooded by rain or the temperatures rise to high there's constant forest fires. I hope all the best for those affected by the weather extremes across the globe, and I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

To shift the focus back to our more local matters, the month of July was one of great significance for the Los Santos Police Department, with a number of advancements and assignments within our Command Staff. At the start of the month, we saw both Dale Ashcroft and George Hill promoted to Captain, adjustments that I, personally, consider to be long overdue and well-deserved.

Towards the end of the month, we saw another significant promotion, which was the promotion of Gareth Longford to the position of Deputy Chief, a position attained by few. Deputy Chief Longford and Assistant Chief Dunbar will continue their collaborative service assigned to the Office of Operations, the Office that is responsible for all primary divisions that, in turn, provide service to the general public.

At the start of the month, our contractors also finalized the renovations at the Mission Row Station, which allowed us to, at last, re-open a renovated station to the public, and move all services and employees back to the main station and hub of the Los Santos Police Department. Continuing on the theme of modernization of Department services and resources, Captain George Hill also finalized and publicized the new LSPD web portal, which makes it far easier for the public to use our forms and services, with much less hassle.

Throughout the month, the Media Relations Division, along with collaborating divisions, respectively hosted two major events, the Firearms Licensing Walk-in Event, and the LSPD vs LSSD K9 showdown. Once again, Police Administrator Ally Jean was absolutely vital to the success of these events, and I cannot thank her enough for her dedication and efforts, as well as the involved personnel of the participating divisions, LSSD personnel involved in the processes, and our other Community Affairs Officers.

Finally, I believe that our traffic division took a large step towards encouraging rehabilitation and reformation, implementing a public traffic safety program that allows individuals who were previously issued a demerit to have up to two demerits removed from their license, once a month, upon attendance.

On a final note, I wish to express once more my gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment of our officers, the deputies of the Sheriff's Department, all government workers, and every citizen who has contributed to making the City of Los Santos a better, safer place.

The Los Santos Police Department is committed to ensuring and protecting the safety and security of citizens and tourists of Los Santos to the highest standards of law enforcement. We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our ranks. If you are inspired to make a difference in your community, consider a career with LSPD.
