The Future of The Mission Row Police Station

Los Santos: Following a comprehensive series of safety inspections and structural assessments conducted over the past several weeks, the San Andreas State Government, in coordination with the Los Santos Police Department has come to the unfortunate conclusion, that the Mission Row Police Station will be demolished and completely remodeled.

This decision comes after the building was deemed in it's current state, to no longer be safe for long-term occupancy. The extensive inspections found a number of serious safety concerns, including the presence of potentially hazardous materials in the ceilings, significant water damage to the rear entrance and after years of heavy landings by Police aircraft, a compromise in structural integrity if left unchecked over time.

The building in it's current state has served the Department and the City of Los Santos since late 2020 but after careful deliberation, it was concluded that a full rebuild is the safest and most responsible path forward, to ensure the safety of Los Santos Police Department personnel as well as offering new opportunities and conveniences for the Department.

Assistant Chief Dezzy Bala wrote: This was certainly not an easy decision, but ultimately it is the right one for the future of the Department. The health and safety of our officers, civilian staff and the community obviously have to come first.

It's understandable that there may be some resistance to such a significant change, particularly as the Mission Row station has served us in both it's first and second iterations for a significant period of time, but it's clear that it can no longer meet modern safety or operational standards.

A lot of this article will obviously focus on the reason for the change but I'm a firm believer, along with the Staff Officers, that this change will ultimately be a benefit to our employees and the citizens we protect and serve. The change itself, being a staton that reflects the professionalism, dedication and style of our Department.

Bill Dhin, Chief Architect of STD Contractors wrote: We are delighted that, following our impressive construction of the Cayo Perico Bridge, in record time, that the Los Santos Police Department has partnered with our firm, STD Contractors, on the re-design and rebuild of Mission Row.

Our goal is to design a facility that only only is structurally secure and up to code, but also, supports the future of law enforcement in the City of Los Santos. We’re committed to creating a space for the LSPD that is efficient, resilient, and worthy of the community it serves.

The new building will operate on four different levels, spanning from a spacious garage with a rear entrance to a flat, reinforced roof but ultimately designed with convenience in mind, respect for the LSPD's rich history and functionality for the citizens on their visits to the LSPD.

There is currently no fixed date for when the construction work will conclude, but we have been assured that it will be swift and imminent.

We are currently in deliberations about how best to operate, during the period of construction. Whether that might mean a temporary relocation to the Vinewood Police Station for the LSPD employees, whether that might mean only the cell areas and lobby are accessible during this period or whether there will be no disruption at all.

You should assume unless told otherwise however, that it is business as usual at Mission Row. We do however ask for and appreciate your patience during this upheaval and we look forward to the future, in our new surroundings.
