  • Los Santos Sheriff’s Department Celebrates 100th Academy Session
  • Blaine County: The Los Santos Sheriff’s Department (LSSD) is proud to announce the completion of its 100th academy session, a landmark achievement for the Recruitment & Employment Division (R.E.D.). This milestone underscores the department’s commitment to training the next generation of law enforcement professionals and serving the community with excellence.

Under the leadership of Lieutenant Trent Williams, Commanding Officer of R.E.D., the division operates with 19 dedicated staff members across all ranks, split into two core functions:
    • Application Handling: Reviewing and processing submissions from aspiring deputies.
    • Academy Instruction: Transforming civilians into Sheriff’s Deputies through rigorous classroom evaluations and hands-on training.
"Our academies are designed to test resilience, adaptability, and commitment," said Lt. Williams. "We’ve evolved with the times, welcoming diverse backgrounds while maintaining the highest standards. The 100th session isn’t just a number, it’s a testament to our team’s dedication. We’re humbled by this milestone but focused on the future,” he added. “Our goal is to keep raising the bar for excellence.”"

The academy’s unique structure, a 3-hour intensive classroom session followed by a month of field training, prepares recruits for the challenges of law enforcement. Two recent graduates shared their perspectives:

    Deputy Trainee White:
  • “Challenging. There’s a lot of information to absorb, but it’s worth it.”
  • Motivation: “I wanted to be part of the LSSD family.”
  • Most Excited For: “Pursuit training!”

    Deputy Trainee Josephs:
  • “Informative. The sheer volume of knowledge shared is overwhelming but invaluable.”
  • Suggestion: “A slower introduction to supervisors’ names would help build camaraderie.”
  • Motivation: “My family’s law enforcement legacy inspired me to serve.”
