Narrative of the Incident:
Me and this guy were messing about in Bennys, getting along just fine for around 10 minutes, then when we went outside of Bennys, I tackled him off his bike as to continue the fun outside. Then all of a sudden he switched up and started to threaten me and said he was gonna kill me and put a cap in my head. He then proceeded to try and run me and my colleagues over and injured one of them doing so. I then shot him in self-defence. Then the sherrifs came and told me i did nothing wrong and that I was going to be fine. Then, next thing you know, I was being charged with battery because they the man who i shot was now mad and was lying to the sherrifs purely to try and get me in trouble. The sherrifs told me it was completely fine to shoot someone twice but i get arrested for tackling. my record before this incident was around 6 and a half months clean and due to this i have lost my gun license over a bit of fun gone bad, i believe that i was treated unfairly in this situation and ive spoken to multiple police officers and SD who agree.

Provide details of the incident leading up to the arrest
- On the date above, around 13:00 two 911 calls came in through dispatch - one from Patrick Featherbottom and one from Markus Knight. Both calls originated from Benny's mechanic workshop.
The call from Patrick Featherbottom stated he got shot at and is injured.
The call from Markus Knight stated an individual ran over another person and he acted in self-defense.
Deputies Morrison and Andollini arrived on scene and detained both callers.
Patrick Featherbottom was injured and was provided medical treatment, transported to Pillbox and brought back to the scene for further investigation.
Upon reviewing the CCTV at Bennys and collecting statements, following timeline of the events was established:
- Patrick Featherbottom arrives at Bennys, driving in the garage with damaged bike.
- Patrick Featherbottom exits the Bennys garage and is being tackled by Bennys worker.
- Patrick Featherbottom gets back on their BF400, circles back and hits the Bennys worker with the bike - resulting in critical injury.
- Markus Knight withdraws the firearm and shoots at Patrick Featherbottom.
- Deputies arrive on the scene.
Based on the events, a conclusion was made that Patrick Featherbottom should have called 911 and informed Law Enforcement about the crime comitted against them. ISSUANCE OF VERDICT
IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF SAN ANDREAS
State of San Andreas v. Markus Knight
#25-BT-0005
A decision was reached in the above case on the 29th day of June, 2025.
After review of the testimony and evidence presented, the Court concludes that on the 27th of March, 2025, the Defendant tackled Patrick Featherbottom at Benny's after some repairs were done on his vehicle. Following this tackle, Patrick Featherbottom ran over another individual with their motorcycle, and the Defendant shot Mr. Featherbottom as a result.
The prosecution argues the tackle of Mr. Featherbottom was done without consent and breached the actions that GM02- Battery has been intended to prohibit. The defense argues the tackle was horseplay, and was not done with intent of malice or intent of harm. The Defense does not deny that Mr. Knight tackled Mr. Featherbottom. The Defense also suggests the Defendant was improperly charged with GM02 - Battery and should have likely been charged with another offense, such as disorderly conduct. The Court reviewed the CCTV footage collected by law enforcement, and does conclude that the Defendant did tackle Mr. Featherbottom off of his motorcycle with what appears an act taken without provocation. While we cannot hear any dialogue between the two, it appears Mr. Featherbottom was merely at Benny's for a repair and upon backing out of the garage was tackled by the Defendant.
GM02 - Battery is defined as, "Willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another."
As the charge of disorderly conduct was mentioned by the Defense, disorderly conduct was defined at the time of the offense (as it has been amended since this the events in question), "Acting in an unruly manner including but not limited to disturbing the peace, deliberate or excessive noise, nuisance style behavior, carrying an open alcohol container where it is not licensed to be served, and excessive and unlawful harassment of individuals."
After consideration of the evidence, the Court must decide what is reasonable beyond a doubt. In this, the evidence does show Mr. Featherbottom arriving at Benny's to get a vehicle repair, leaving, and getting tackled. The statements obtained from the Defendant through the IA report that there was a 10 or so minute interaction of horseplay and going outside to continue the fun is not supported by the evidence. Furthermore, what followed this tackle does not support horseplay. Mr. Featherbottom's next action of deciding to up the ante and use a vehicle to run over another individual and the Defendant's believe that he needed to defend himself or another against grave bodily injury or death does not suggest this was all in good fun. The 911 call placed by the Defendant also does not suggest this started with horseplay. Therefore, the Court concludes this started with a random tackle done by the Defendant, and the Court concludes this action was not lawful. GM02 - Battery does not require an intent to cause injury, it merely requires the unlawful use of force or violence upon another person.
It is with the above considerations that I issue the following verdict:
- On the count of GM02 - Battery, I find the defendant, Markus Knight, guilty.
