  • 3.1) Why are you interested in becoming a Court Clerk, and how does this role align with your long-term career goals, such as becoming a Judge? (100 word minimum)
    • I'm interested in becoming a Court Clerk as its something that really interest me. A few days ago I attended my first court case and I fell in love. I loved the structure, and most importantly, I loved what the judge did. It amazed me how he stayed un-biased, looked at the facts and evidence, listened to both sides, and was able to produce a ruling that was fair and just. I want to also be the one to do that. Becoming a court clerk is the step in the right direction towards being a judge and I believe it will give me amazing experience. Being a court clerk means the ability to assist with judges and assist JB which would be an amazing opportunity. Overall, being a court clerk would be an amazing advancement in my career path and one id love to do.
3.2) As a Court Clerk, you will handle a significant amount of paperwork, including case logs, legal research, and drafting court documents. How do you manage detailed tasks and maintain accuracy under pressure? (50 word minimum)
    • I've learnt to handle things in a more organized manner. I like to keep planners and reminders so I'm never feeling overwhelmed. I'm able to keep onto of my work via doing this. When I find that I've been doing a lot work for a long time sometimes I can get tired or fatigued. Because of this, I always like to give myself a short break. The break allows me to stay calm, re-collect myself, and avoid making mistakes. When it comes to legal documents you have to ensure you are not making any mistakes. Lastly, I always like to double check my work. Double checking my work alleviates stress as I ensure I'm doing everything correctly. It is good to know that I'm presenting work that has no mistakes or typos.
3.3) Describe a time when you had to work with multiple individuals to achieve a common goal. (75 word minimum)
    • As apart of the PR team in DOC one of our main task is the monthly press release. Each PR member choses a certain section and completes it. My section was inmate of the month. I worked with other PR members to complete this section, review it, and have it added into the press release. Even when I'm done with my section, I still help with other section and other ideas so we can get the press release done in time. We are able to come together to contribute to a huge piece of writing. It takes team work and dedication to get it done. Without the use of a team the press release would most likely not be a thing or not as big as it is.
3.4) Have you previously worked in any capacity that required neutrality and unbiased decision-making? Explain if so.
    • A lot of DOC has to do with unbiased decision making. When I'm in the cellblock and a fight breaks out often times I hear a lot of "He started it or she started it" and etc. That's when I have to go check cameras, ask guards what they may have seen, examine injuries and make a decision on who should be put in a cell. While it may not be the best example it still shows how I had to make a unbiased decision based off facts as its not fair to an inmate to put him in a cell because I like the other one better. Its not right. I can never let my personal feelings get in the way of what I do at DOC.
3.5) Are you willing to undergo intensive training and follow strict legal procedures?
    • Yes, I'm rather exited for the training, even if its intensive. I always like to learn new things and I'm open to doing so. As well, I'm very willing to following the procedures and I will prioritize them no matter what when doing my duties.
3.6) In your opinion, what qualities make a good Judge? (75 word minimum)
    • To me, a good judge is able to listen to both sides and give each side a fair opportunity to say what needs to be said. A good judge should also be fair at all times. It is a vital that a judge is ruling in a unbiased matter as their ruling and greatly impact someone's life. I also believe a judge should be hard working and have a great sense of dedication. When it comes to being a judge, you have to have the dedication to go over evidence, listen to both sides, do paperwork, be fair, make rulings, and etc. Its vital a good judge has the dedication to do all that and have the ability to work hard to get the work done. A judge should also have a great understanding of the law and everything sounding the law. Lastly, a judge should be nice but also firm. Its important that a judge is able to be kind to people but also be able to be somewhat firm in the court room to ensure order is kept in the court.
3.7) How would you handle a situation where you personally disagreed with a law or ruling but had to maintain neutrality in your actions or decisions?
    • I would remind myself that my job is to judge based off the law and facts, not what I believe in. If I do end up not agreeing with something id simply remain professional at all times and follow the correct procedures. I can not let personal beliefs effect my neutrality as a court clerk.
