Los Santos: The Los Santos Police Department isn’t just committed to protecting and serving the people of this city—we look out for our furry, feathered, and even whiskered friends too. This week, LSPD’s very own Commander Longford went above and beyond in the name of animal welfare, rescuing a small but mighty soul in need: Pinkerton the pet rat.
The incident unfolded when officers attempted to stop a reckless driver, only for the suspect to speed off, leading officers on a dangerous pursuit through the city streets. The chase came to an abrupt and chaotic end when the driver lost control and crashed their vehicle. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries—but there was an unexpected passenger.
Inside the car, in shocking disregard for safety, was a tiny pet rat with no seatbelt of its own. The poor creature, later discovered to be named Pinkerton by its negligent owner, had been subjected to the same reckless driving and crash without a single concern for its well-being. Commander Longford, an avid animal lover, immediately took action. He carefully retrieved Pinkerton from the wreckage, ensuring the little survivor was unharmed. With the owner now in custody and clearly unfit to care for the animal, LSPD stepped in to make sure Pinkerton received the proper attention and care.
But Longford didn’t stop there. Determined to provide Pinkerton with a safe and comfortable temporary home, he personally built a customized enclosure with his own hands. Complete with bedding, food, and water, the setup ensured Pinkerton would be well cared for while awaiting a safe and permanent home.
The LSPD remains deeply committed to protecting all lives—big or small, human or animal. Pinkerton will soon be rehomed into a better environment where he will be treated with the love and care he deserves.
This story is a reminder that compassion has no size limit. Whether it’s a citizen in danger or a tiny pet rat caught in unfortunate circumstances, the LSPD will always step up to do the right thing.
